Answer:
This door chime does not have an internal transformer, nor does a transformer come with it. This door chime requires a 16 Volt AC, 10 Watt or a 16 Volt AC, 15 Watt transformer. You can get the DW-122 or DW-125 through this website, if you do not have a transformer with that power rating.

Answer:
Sorry, but no the volume cannot be adjusted on this model of doorbell. It has metal sound bars to create the sound and not an electronic speaker sound base.

It will be hard to answer your question over email, but here are some suggestions as it could be bad wiring or a bad button. Try checking the following:

Rated 4.8 out of 5 by 4 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Cheap, Simple, Easy to Install Bought this because our purchased home door chime was missing the cover. Apparently you cannot just buy new covers and we didn't want our door chime to dominate a wall. So we wanted simple and at about $8 this was also cheap. Very compact (about the size of a brick), plain white, blends into the wall so the real decor is what you notice first. I installed myself. Very easy to do. There are different chimes for front door and back, too. I'd recommend it. July 9, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Loud chime It is loud enough that my dog goes bonkers when it rings. I muffled it with a wad of paper towel and it is much softer, much shorter, and much less alarming, but also not so uniquely doorbell-sounding. Five stars if it were in a larger or noisier home, or with a less sensitive dog. November 14, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Amazing quality at many times the price Great system at several times the price. Sounds as good as a system you pay $70 or $80 for. My wife used the money she saved on this doorbell system to spend 4x as much on the fancy doorbell button, and we still came in under budget! June 8, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by The door chime works! I replaced one that looked similar. I hooked-up the wires and it worked fine. Low cost...good value. January 17, 2012
