Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Shellie Love Love Love this doorbell, super fun
I love that you can change it to different sounds. My dogs use to bark like mad every time someone came & rang my doorbell, now they don't even realize the doorbell has been rang. It's made my life a lot quieter. The ring tones are very soothing and it has a wide selection to chose from.

It does not come with doorbells - you must purchase them separately ... I have purchased two different kinds, and they do not work when they are attached to the outer wall - I can take them off and hold them outside and they ring. Go figure.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by PecosBill Poor instructions, cheap construction, and nonexistent customer service
I'm having some trouble figuring out the setup, but I haven't spent a lot of time on it yet. That said, it shouldn't be as hard as it is, and the instructions are bad. (For some reference, I've redone several houses, including wiring, and know my way around a toolbox.) That's not my main problem with it, though.
The construction is, as someone else mentioned, all plastic. Probably standard these days, but still cheap. One tiny part of my doorbell's cover broke, causing the chime to think the cover isn't on and to say "Replace cover," with all the charm of Herman Munster, instead of ringing the chime. I left two messages in the manufacturer's voicemail system (I couldn't ever reach a person) asking if it's possible to order a replacement cover, and haven't heard a peep back from them. Maybe they'll pay more attention to a bad review. I'll update if I ever hear from them.

While this chime is at the high end of the products offered by the local HD (price), it is of very low quality. The cover, which must be removed to change the tune or volume selection, is of low quality plastic. The cover does not have a tab that makes it easy to remove. The main componet box mounts to the wall with two small screws that are very close together and way off center. This puts a lot of stress on the molly and the drywall because the cover release tabs are hard to operate.
If you purchase this product, plan to set it and forget it or fix the drywall. What is the point of selectable tunes and volume if it is this much trouble??????????

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by rjmobley Easy installation, good sound.
I purchased this doorbell a year ago when we remodeled. We went wireless to avoid the cost of a wired installation, picked this model because my wife liked the looks. Easy installation. Volume control and choice of chimes with a good clean sound. If you try to check the chime without the cover it will tell you "Install cover". That is an unnecessary aggravation. After a year we had to replace the D batteries because there was not enough juice to finish the chimes. We must have a neighbor with a new device or doorbell because recently we have had a problem with the doorbell ringing without our button being pushed. I changed the jumper settings from the default to another.

Got this on clearance to replace existing plain hard wired doorbell. Did not by a transformer because we already had one somewhere in the line. As other reviews state, you need to have a line to the trans connection and one to front (if only using the front doorbell). Here was our: complication: we have an old house which had existing unknown transformer already. We didn't want to crawl around attic so we did trial and error. We also had an extra wire which had a hot feed. We also tried to use it but the bell continuously chimed. When we hooked up two existing transformer wires it only chimed when you held and continued holding down button (or like some people may only get a clunk or chirp) this is probably from a bad transformer or not enough power in transformer. We had to add three D batteries and it works fine (in conjunction with hard wiring)- no remote bell required. Hope this helps people!
