This chest is very small in storage space. At only 0.15 cubic feet it can store very few items. I only store my passport, social security card, a spare hard drive and a few other important items in it. It's a good size and weight for when in an emergency you could grab it and run. It's not heavy where it will slow you down. I do like the size and feel of the chest. It can be submerged in water for up to 24 hours without getting your valuables wet and can be in the fire for 30 minutes. Overall, if you have only a few important items you need to secure then this is a good start.

This is a nice, heavy box with a real keyed lock - it would be hard to
get into without the key. it's large, and heavy, though with the
handle, it’s possible to move with some effort. The build quality is
Great, with a black metal casing and inner shell, and metal spring
loaded clips to keep it closed. There is a lip and seal that runs
around the inside of the lid that presumably keeps it watertight. The
two clips that keep the unit closed when unlocked are fairly sturdy
and there is no reason to think that they would fail under fire
conditions. The walls are thick, and though the weight makes it seem
like it has to be something that could resist fire for a considerable
amount of time. This is definitely a great safe to keep important
stuff in it. Will definitely recommend to all and awesome Safe

I must say that this Chest is under priced. I was not expecting much quality from it simply because of its price. But to my surprise, it is solid as rock of Gibraltar and that is obviously felt when I lift it, solid 20 pounds when completely empty.
The carrying handle is really sturdy, the compression latches are very easy to operate and gives it a really good seal.
The true peace of mind is its 30 minutes fire and water safety feature. How does it do it? Quality, build material and thickness of course.
I am using it to store my entire family’s passports and SS cards. Everything fits nice and easy with plenty of room left for additional articles. I see it a prefect chest to store a hand gun.
It comes with 2 keys that slide in easily and open the chest with a simple twist.
All in all, it’s a great chest that keeps your valuables safe and is easily portable. Highly recommend.

I needed a safe that I could store my personal documents in that would fire and water proof to safe guard my documents. I was amazed with how heavy this chest is and how well constructed it appears to be. There is a small issue when inserting the key in the lock. It appears that initially it does not want to go in and then after several attempts it works. I think that I will try using some WD-40 to see if this helps with the key going in more smoothly. I also wish that I had gotten a chest with a combination instead of key as this is one more item to misplaced and then I am in trouble for sure. I guest I had better place it in a place that I will not lose track of.

Lots of good security features with this Honeywell Fire and Water Chests. (Safe) A key lock cylinder mechanism is used for opening, along with this well made safe it uses compression to hold the two components closed. The definition of Compression; act, process, or result of pressing something together, to press or squeeze together: to reduce in size, quantity, or volume.
Once open you’ll find 2 hydraulic hinges, along the rim there is a strong rubber type seal. When the compression latches are engaged this cause the inside seals to close together making this safe water proof. I preformed my own water test yes this Safe Is Air and Water tight. I did not try a fire test. I’ll take HoneyWell warranty on it.
This safe is very heavy and would be awkward to just walk off with and Bulky enough not to be carried under a coat. I’m very happy to have this security for my paper work and it’s large enough for personal protection.

I use his 19 lb. safe / chest to store my important papers and other small items like: Birth Certificate, Passport, Social Security Card, House & Car Titles, Credit Cards, USB Flash Drives that contain my photo's, music and documents and Money. With the inside dimensions being 9 5/8" long and 6" wide, along with it being 4 1/2" deep, it holds plenty of my valuables, some that are irreplaceable. I can even lock it because it comes with 2 keys. I feel good about having my valuables safe from moisture damage.

I am insanely disorganized where when I need to find an important document like my birth certificate or passport, it is no where to be found. So this excellent safe has solved my problem! It's not a whole ton of room to work with, but there are larger safes if that is what you are after. This works perfect for my needs because it holds just my important documents and USB drives with important data. It doesn't weigh a ton either so it is easy enough to move from place to place to access and put away. Quite pleased!

Despite its heavy weight and sturdy construction, this chest really can only store a small volume of materials. Probably ideal only for passports, money, some documents, jewelry or a stash of some sort, and certainly not all of those items together at once. The volume is quite small.
That being said, it is nice to have disaster-resistent storage for items that matter most. If you're looking to store lots of documents or heirlooms, look elsewhere for a larger chest.
Another thing to keep in mind, this is a chest, and not a safe. Disaster resistance is the goal here, not security. The chest is heavy but certainly light enough to be carried away at a moment's notice. The lock and key mechanism, while strong, would probably not hold out too long against someone determined to get inside.
For what it's designed for it's (presumably) very good.
