can this be used with HDX miter box 12". If not, which miter box will it work with?

Can this saw be sharpened?

Asked by: David
Nope. The teeth aren't pitched properly - either as crosscut or as rip teeth. And then on top of that, they aren't "set" - the edge of the blade is just crimped in a wiggly sine wave, instead of each tooth being set opposite each other. To sharpen it, you would essentially be recutting all the teeth, and the crimped edge of the blade will keep you from doing a good job.

Good Miter Back Saw For Small Projects This miter saw cuts wood and PVC trim well and is easy and comfortable to use and works OK with a Stanley plastic miter box. The fine pitch teeth on the saw minimize tear out on when cutting trim and are sharp and aggressive enough to cut through trim boards easily and efficiently. I originally bought a Stanley plastic miter box without a miter saw assuming that I could re-use an existing 12" long miter saw. Unfortunately the Stanley plastic miter box requires a minimum 14" long miter saw and a 12" long miter saw is too short to be unusable. I bought this saw to use with a Stanley plastic miter box for small projects and for the limited amount of trim that I have to replace and work on.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Cheap and Weak The saw bent the first day I used it. It was cutting 1/8 inch pvc plastic. It is also not quite high enough to cut down to the bottom of the miter box because the thick metal stiffener doesn't fit through the miter box slot.

The teeth on this saw are just right for angles on the molding, However I purchased the saw and miter box separately because I thought I had a saw at home. They have a combo set I would have bought if I did not want to use my saw.

HDX 12" mitre box purchased with the saw was more difficult to use on a 45 degree angle cut. Purchased a Stanley Precision Mitre Box & Saw combination that worked much better than the HDX mitre box.
