Answer:
No. The door contact has to be 1/4 inch or less from the sensing contact which is hardwired by a 6 inch lead to the actual alarm. Of course, you could extend the wire length to reach another room, but you would have to do some work to route it.

Answer:
No the alarm and contact, each one has a magnetic piece. In order for the alarm to work the two magnetic pieces need to me no more than 1/4" apart and even. Once contact is broken, door opens then the alarm will sound

I'm looking for an "open garage door" monitor that either sounds a beep or flashes a light at the remote so I know when the kids have left the garage door open, and that will work with any brand of garage door opener I may install. I currently have a Genie Pro Max unit with a wall mounted open/close button.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by nice simple system product works fine, But some of the batteries provided w/ units were dead and leaking alkaline fluid as if they were on the shelf for to long and not inspected better before being shipped December 8, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good product, instructions may not be relevant to the dialer you have. The product worked well, but the instructions for paring with the wireless command module were inaccurate. I had to refer to the wireless dialer manual to get the correct instructions. October 29, 2014
