16 in. Deep Deluxe Closet System in Honey Maple is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 27.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great DIY project, nice closet system After researching some of the many systems on the market today, we decided to buy the John Louis system to replace our 19yr old wire shelving. (Finally!) We couldn't be happier and would recommend this to anyone. We found it really helped to have 2 people, for an extra pair of hands to unwrapped, prep assembly and find parts. Directions were well written, not a single piece was missing and has extra small items like screws. The way the system is assembled together, you can see the thought that was given to good design. No exposed sharp edges to catch clothing. BE aware, the wood is SOFT, so it will show dings easily - but hey, it's a closet afterall. Finished closet was a welcomed sight, makes our home value go up for having a finished master bedroom.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Difficult in odd sized closets Overall I am very happy the closet system. I just finished installing 2 in odd sized closets. The directions were adequate however it does take a little figuring when you have closets that are not square or plum. The other issue I have is that the screws are not labeled. They are neatly separated in little plastic bags but you have to do a little comparison of each in order to choose the correct size screw. Installing the anchors into old plaster is a bit of a challenge as well. My process was (because some studs where not 16" on center) was to use a stud finder and when there was a stud I used an 1/8" bit for the pilot. If no stud was there I recommend a 3/8" bit for the anchor pilot. If you use a smaller pilot the anchor will tear up the plaster. Installation would have been easier with 2 people. On challenge was mounting of the tower. Since it is suspended you have to hold it up & line it up to then attach to the brackets. This is not easy without another person. One last thing, and a very important one. I would NOT try to install this without a powered screwdriver! Some places will definitely require a regular screwdriver but do yourself a favor use a battery operated drill/screwdriver. Be careful I broke 4 screws in this installation. They seem to be kinda cheap. Again, I am very happy with the finished product. It just seemed that the installation (12 hrs for the first & 7 hrs for the second) was more difficult than in needed to be.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not for DIY beginners This system transformed our Master closet into pure luxury! We purchased two kits and six extra 2' tower shelves for a 12'x6' closet with a highly customized install. Most installs will probably require customization so I would not recommend to the DIY beginner. In addition to common tools like a drill and screwdrivers, you'll want to have a miter saw, a good stud finder, and a long level.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Attractive and Sturdy It took me a couple of weeks to get around to putting in the systems into the two master-bedroom closets. The first one was a bear - the directions didn't make sense to me until I was nearly done, but the second one was much easier, just time consuming. Make sure to measure, measure, measure... and use your level! I used a stud finder to help, so most of the back wall brackets were screwed into wood. Once I figured out what I was doing, the hardest part was cutting the rod to length - had to get some help with that one. Once set up, this closet system is very sturdy. It is wood, so I don't recommend standing or sitting on the shelves, but for holding clothes, it's great. I like it much better than the wire systems, which is what I tore out. The look of the system is quite nice as well. I went with the honey walnut and found the color to be pretty consistent, even between the two sets (shipped separately). The one closet (about 6' wide, 3' deep) uses the tower on the left, and two (upper/lower) bars on the right. The other closet (just over 8' wide, but 2' deep), I set up with a short dress-bar to the left, and two (upper/lower) bars to the right. There's quite a bit of room! After I got the closets installed, I went back and ordered two drawers from another vendor (10" and 6") so the overflow of ties and belts can be hidden away in his closet. I'll be using the little bit of extra shelf, and the extra bar in another tiny closet - plan well, and you can get more than you expected out of it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great organizing system. This system was fairly easy to install with the given directions, but did take time. I would budget a minimum of 5 hours for full install...it took me closer to 7-8, but I move slow and double-check everything. I used the provided drywall anchors for areas where there were no studs and they seem to work very well. The system is rated for 1200 lbs and I feel very confident that this is true-very sturdy. The final result is aesthetically very pleasing and with the option for adding additional drawers, shelves, and doors, it can be personalized in the future. Anyone looking at rubbermaid/closetmaid should consider this solid wood alternative. Price is very comparable when you sit down and start adding up the cost of individual components. The slide-through hanger-rod feature is very nice (don't have to move clothes around the support bracket for the rod). Note: the lower end model doesn't have this feature and include a wood rod that could potentially start looking scraped up after sliding hangers on it. Glad we paid a little more for this feature and the 16 inch deep unit vs. 12 inch deep unit. Most boxes we have would have hung over the edge of the 12 inch unit. I will be getting another one of these systems and probably an additional shelf tower to finish out our closet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pricey -- but you get what you pay for Extremely handsome, solid and well-made. The manufacturer focuses on details that cheaper manufacturers would ignore. The result is a terrific product. The closet does take time and care to assemble. Because it's so solid and well-made, it needs to be properly assembled and attached to the wall.
