Perfect for the specified Kohler tank. Altho somewhat more expensive than a non-Kohler product, its ease of installation and perfect fit make it a no brainer. Its plastic parts should last in its watery environment. The only installation issue was that the instructions were unclear as to how to adjust its height to fit the tank (first slide the collar upwards on the tube).

I considered disassembling and repairing my existing fill valve, but the relatively low cost of replacing the entire unit makes that a more practical approach. Installation is easy, but when you remove the old valve, take care not to change the height adjustment. You'll need to adjust the new one to the same length. The length adjustment is a little stiff, you'll need to give it a good tug.
Once it's in place, it works well. One nice feature is that the water enters the tank near the bottom, not from the top, so after the first few seconds, the action is under water -- much quieter than valves that pour the water in from the top.

Kohler recommends only GP (genuine parts) that are not always easy to find. I had to order this through Home Depot which was easy, but not as convenient as just buying it at the store.

What can I say, it's a toilet fill valve. Install was simplicity personified, didn't even need to adjust float level. Just be sure you get the gray one if your current one is gray, or the black one if yours is black.
Instructions were minimal, but if you have any familiarity with toilets/fill valves/their purpose and general knowledge of how to use tools, all it took was a pair of channellocks and a pair of scissors to install.
Next time, however, I'd probably find a brand that has replaceable valves, so no need to replace whole unit. I had a Kohler toilet and I was replacing the original Kohler fill valve, and there are no replaceable parts on them. Fortunately, this is actually cheaper (~$15 vs. ~$20) than generic/well known replacement fill valve.

The directions regarding extension of the shaft were not correct. It stated to use a twisting motion of the lower shaft to lengthen or shorten its height. Nothing mentioned pushing up the collar on the upper shaft so that the lower shaft could be PUSHED or PULLED to change the height.
Twisting the lower shaft accomplished nothing.

The new fill valve fixed the running toilet. It was really easy to install. It took about 10 min with very little adjustment.

Saved myself a ton of plumber charges. Used utube to see installation. Warning, be careful taking old one off. Remember righty tightly - lefty loosely.
