Answer:
Yes - the combination will have to be entered both to unlock the box to access the keys, as well as entering the code to put the cover (that has the keys) back onto the box base.

Yes each time you close the key safe it will reset, you will need to enter the code to close it again as well as reopen it. The clear key is only used in the event that you make an error in the code.

Answer:
Hello Carter. No. Our keysafes are very secure and there is no way to get into them without the codes, except by getting a locksmith to drill it open and ruin it. If we can help you any further, you can call us at Kidde Product Support at 1-800-880-6788. Thank you for your interest.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.6 out of 5 by 5 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by EXCELLENT Product!!! I initially was turned onto this product by a friend who had one - she kept locking herself out of her house (it was an auto-lock door) and this saved her many times. Because I had medical issues going on, I bought one in case I was incapacitated and someone had to get in for a medical emergency. The box is all heavy steel (including the back) with long screws so even if someone wanted to break in, ripping it off the side of your house and getting in the box would prove more tricky then breaking a window. Seems to be rustproof and with a simple "keying" mechanism inside, should last indefinitely with little chance of mechanical error. Since the screws (included) that hold the box on the wall are relatively small in diameter, the holes are discreet and allow for easy cover-up and patching if moving whether siding, brick or stucco (good for apartment/rental use). It has come in extremely handy for when I have traveled (to let someone in to check the place), for my housekeeper, or I ended up working late and a friend was coming over. Since the code can be changed in a matter of minutes, there is no fear of firing the housekeeper or losing a friend and them having the code and is *much* less expensive than having the house re-keyed. I would highly recommend to anyone as a safe, convenient place to keep a spare key in a secure location. July 2, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect solution for multiple persons needing to access a key. Needed a all weather lock box that can be accessed by multiple persons on which the code can be easily reset as members of the group change. Perfect solution September 15, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Pretty good The screws to secure it could be a bit longer, I believe it came with four of them, I used six 3" screws to secure mine so it would take much more effort to remove the box from it's mounted location. While I like the dial model better (much harder to crack the combination), the button style is much easier and quicker to use. My number one suggestion to anyone buying it, pick a very good, difficult to spot location to mount this lock box and that'll make it MUCH more secure. Someone can't break into what they can't find. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy to install and straight forward to use Easy to install and straight forward to use. Solidly built, and back side is solid so even if removed from the wall people can't access your keys. Combination is easy to set. January 27, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Key safe Bought this for vacation home so that service persons can gain access to the home when we are not there. Instructions could have been better, but once you have combo set, it works great. January 6, 2015
