Customer Questions & Answers

Does this have to be secured to and connected inside a box or can it be connected inside fixture?

Some T8 fixtures I have noted call for external hard wiring, don't know why as they still appear to be able to be surface mounted. Am assuming this unit is secured to ceiling or walls with various screw holes as a strip light has.
Asked by: jimmie
You can go either way. The fixture has punch-outs for mounting directly to a ceiling box. You either use those, plus an associated 3/8" hole on the back, or you use one of the 1/2" punch-outs along the side and bring power in using a cable-grip or conduit.

how to replace bulb

Asked by: Anonymous
You un-snap the flexible plastic cover over the light, then turn the tube one-quarter of a turn until it loosens from the tombstones. Then, drop it out the bottom.

1-Light White Fluorescent Ceiling Flushmount is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 15.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Lasted only 3 months Light was easy to install, but lasted only 3 months. Of course, box and receipt were gone by that time, so it was a total loss.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very nice I purchased this luminaire to replace a simple incandescent light bulb in a closet. This fixture was easy to install and puts out a good amount of light. It is slightly less bright than the 100w incandescent lamp it replaced. I wish it was just a little brighter, but overall it's a good light.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Quick, easy installation and nice looking. I replaced an 18" fixture in a large closet that took an unpredictable amount of time to light when switched on. The installation was simple and quick. There was room inside the fixture to make all connections. There were no problems whatsoever with the install and I would recommend this product for a similar use.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Cheap light Got it installed. A week later the switch failed. Light flickers when I finally get it turned on. Not the quality that I have learned to expect from Home Depot

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Closet Light with Lots of Room in the Enclosure . . . This light fixture has enough room inside to allow installation of an Amprobe Remcon RC-120S Closet Light Switch Relay. My closets had the old fashioned ceramic base bulb holders. This no longer meets the fire codes. The risk is that if someone uses an incandescent bulb in the fixture, then places an acrylic sweater on the top shelf of the closed, then leaves the light turned on inside the closet, the sweater can come in contact with the bare, hot bulb and set the sweater (and the rest of the closet) on Fire! The building codes now require covered fixtures. This one is a low cost fixture with acceptable quality. It has punch-outs on the top that allow installation of the Amprobe Remcon RC-120S Closet Light Switch Relay and a cord grip for incoming power. I wired the relay in series with the switch in case someone wants to leave the closet door open without the light being on. All you have to do is pull the cord to disconnect everything. I placed some Leviton 5059 outlet adapters on the octagonal box where the old ceramic light fixture was removed. I used a plug-in cord to reach from the outlet adapter to the light fixture. Please see my posted photographs for illustration of the wiring inside this 24" long fluorescent fixture. The Amprobe Remcon RC-120S Closet Light Switch Relay is wired to a Magnetic Reed Switch mounted on the closet door.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great pricing on a no frills, but great fixture! I needed a light with a pull chain to replace a very old unit that didn't have a wall switch. This fixture did the trick and put out a good amount of light
