Product Overview

Makita 18-Volt lithium-ion is the world’s largest cordless tool line-up powered by 18-Volt lithium-ion slide-style battery. At the heart of the LXT Series are the 18-Volt LXT lithium-ion battery and the efficient Rapid Optimum Charger. The new 18-Volt lithium-ion dual port rapid optimum charger (DC18RD) charges 2 batteries simultaneously, giving tool users unparalleled charging efficiency so their batteries spend more time working and less time sitting on the charger. The 18-Volt Dual Port Rapid Optimum Charger offers key advantages for Makita 18-Volt lithium-ion cordless tool users. The exclusive built-in fan cools the battery by forcing air through the battery's air vents during the charging process for faster charging. The charger communicates with the battery's built-in chip throughout the charging process to optimize battery life by actively controlling current, voltage and temperature. The result is category-leading charge times: two 18-Volt Compact lithium-ion 2.0Ah batteries in only 25 minutes; two 18-Volt LXT lithium-ion 3.0Ah batteries in only 30 minutes; two 18-Volt LXT lithium-ion 4.0Ah batteries in only 40 minutes; two 18-Volt LXT lithium-ion 5.0Ah batteries in only 45 minutes.

Answer:
Like others said, no, it won't work that way. But Makita now has a USB adapter model # ADP05 that will draw from a battery, allowing you to charge your phone/USB device from an 18v battery. Works like a charm and lasts way longer than those regular consumer portable battery chargers.

I'd use a plug adapter of course but wondering is if it's ok for either voltage. Thanks

Answer:
110/120v only according to the box. They make a 220v though I've only seen it on British or Australian Makita websites and vendors. Batteries and tools are the same internationally, but chargers change based on household voltage.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Speedy... OK, I bought this one verses the single charger that comes with most Makita tools. It quickly charges my 4.0Ah LXT batteries in about 30 minutes or less. I have yet to run out of power or yet have to wait for a battery to be charged. All the indicator lights are very helpful. Also the cooling fans are a big plus so that the batteries stay at a good optimal temperatur. All and all I'm very pleased with this product. November 10, 2015
