This cooler really brings down the temp. The only drawback is that it's a little loud. It is easy to wheel from room to room and easy to fill with water if you don't want to hook up to a water source.

Ok. I read all the reviews before I purchased this cooler. It was so hot where I live that I had to do something. A portable unit was my only option since I rent. I am a 65 year old woman. I live by myself. I was able to unload and assemble the unit with no assistance. (Of course I had to remove the panels to lighten the unit and be creative to unload it from my truck!) I got the thing assembled. Hooked up the water. Turned the pump on for a bit to moisten the pads. Adjusted windows, closed some doors. Turned on the cooling function and relished the cold air. It did get humid and the cooling slowed down. So I adjusted the windows a little more and voila, my 1000 square foot area got so cold I had to turn the unit on low. Adjusted the windows a little to allow for change in air flow. A while later, I had to turn it off for awhile cause I was cold. So yes, I am happy.
Evaporative coolers need ventilation. The unit has to have fresh air flow, otherwise it is trying to cool already humid air. Doesn't work that way. I have the unit by a window, open enough to allow plenty of fresh air. The space also needs to be vented for the humid air to escape, preferably in the direction that you want the cold air to flow. It is a simple concept. Those that did not have success, just needed to make some adjustments. Just take a little time to find out how your space needs to be vented. Fresh air and a place to exhaust the humid air. Easy. I know I am going to enjoy my cold air!

It is summer time in Phoenix AZ and it is hot! The heat had me concerned for the welfare of my girls (chickens) so I purchased a Mastercool 1145 CFM 2-speed portable evaporative cooler from Home Depot. It keeps the coop nice and cool. No more worries - it works like a champ!

Works as described. I have mine on my back covered patio and it does great until it hits the low 100's. It is a powerful unit and moves the air great.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by FrustratedBlower Not the greatest, and uses a poor motor design
This product works great at first. Good air flow on high speed, but very poor on low speed. This is a 1/3 H.P. , 2 speed motor, which uses a big capacitor to get the motor going. Third year I had this unit and capacitor and motor burned up. An electrician friend looked at it and laughed at the cheap motor/capacitor configuration. Replacement motor is $240 plus shipping and you still need the capacitor. Motor mounting is also different and a problem is the motor burs up. By the time you replace the motor, capacitor, and buy an adapter mounting bracket for the motor you are over $300 and if you replace the filters, add another $100. Not worth the money for how long it lasted, and my electrician said it would only last about the same if I replaced it. They should have a bigger motor on all their portable units. The larger unit with the 1/2 H.P. motor is better, standard design, with easily replacable parts.

Very dissapointed. I have an old Master cool by Adobe Air made in Phx. Az. That is an excellent cooler. This same model MMB12E was replaced MMB12 Mastercool by Champion Cooler out of Dennison, Tx. It is not as good in quality as the old one made by Adobe Air. It Is very noisy and wobbles on low speed. Unfortunately it is 2 years old now and if I could take it back to Home Depot for a better quality cooler I would. I am very dissapointed in this cooler. It is cheeply made and not worth the money.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Richard the fillement is plastic and dont hold water
the filament was made pf plastic instead of a wooden byproduct so it would not hold water allowing the air to cool enough
