Customer Reviews

Short Pin Punch Set (3-Piece) is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 13.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Extremely poor manufacturing As one of the other reviews noted, the tips of these pin punches are not inline with the axis of the upper body - they're bent even before you use them. When you attempt to use them, you will bend it further due to the pre-existing defect. Then when it bends, the poorly finished tip will break off at the transition to the body, due to the stress risers that are present from the rough turned finish. The other reason the tip is so prone to breaking is that the entire punch is thru-hardened to HRC60 so it has very little ductility. As far as I'm concerned these are being manufactured incorrectly. The tip alone should be induction hardened, while leaving the body and tip transition zone say HRC25-35, hard enough to improve its strength, but not so hard as to make the entire piece brittle in use - especially as this is tool intended to be struck with a hammer against other objects. Awful awful product.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Punches aren't straight I bought these to finish driving some 18 gauge nails that my nail gun hadn't driven all the way into a pine board. I used the smallest, since it was the only one which the head was thinner than the nail. I was very careful to line everything up, and used a 16 oz hammer. After driving two nails 1/8" into the wood, I noticed the punch was bent and was starting to slip off of the nail and mark the wood. I looked at the other punches that I hadn't used yet, and the medium sized one also had a bend in it. This set is going back to the store - I'll see if I just got a bad set, but I'm most likely going to buy another brand.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pin Punch High quality brand. Having the three sizes without buying a un neccassary full set for household jobs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than the single Glock tool When punching out pins in a pistol, you want to start with a "smaller than hole size" punch. This way you don't end up expanding the hole over time. This set allows you to do exactly that and is cheaper than the factory punches that is made by Glock. Also is cheaper than the single punch they sell. I can not speak of durability as I have not used them to any great extent but seems to be made very well. Would recommend.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor Quality Product, & Too High Priced The price was to high for the limited number of items in the set. The smallest diameter punch broke within the first and limited application for which the tool was designed. I will return the item for a refund or replacement with, hopefully, a better quality item.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Did not hold up long I've used these punches (all sizes) for several projects so far. The smallest one bent while trying to drive out a roll pin.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good punch set Punch set seems fine. Got an email from Home Depot asking me to do a review. How much can you say about a set of three punches. I gave them four stars, added my info, gave it a title like asked, but the review won't post saying my text wasn't long enough, hope this helps
