I have #301-416 nozzle head.

This spring/plastic piece inserts into a slot at bottom.

Spring first or plastic tip first?

There is no schematic dissemble diagram on the website for this nozzle.

5-Pattern Watering Nozzle is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 161.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid Hose, High Quality Easy to use and easy to hook up. It doesn't leak, as some don't make a good leak proof connection to hose. The various settings work great and are all I need to do various watering jobs around the garden. It's a nice design and looks great. I put it on my 75' hose, which I also got from Home Depot and they work great together. Sometimes I use a lot of pressure, put it down, and it doesn't leak at the fitting from back pressure, as others have in the past. It also has a a movable part that you flip down, which keeps water on, so you don't have to keep pulling the handle back to keep watering. This makes it easier & more fun to use, as your hands don't tire out and I can water continuously. It's heavy duty and made to last.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Inexpensive and Efficient I finally admitted to myself that I had lost my hose nozzle so I got the Melnor 5 Pattern Nozzle as an inexpensive replacement. It went on my hose easily and securely, without any drips or sprays from the neck. The patterns include everything from mist to stream, which allows me to spray down dirty dog crates on one hand and gently water flowers and the garden on the other. It is easy to change the patterns and so far I have not had any problems with this nozzle. Great buy.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Did not hold up I thought at first this was a great nozzle. Worked well until a month later starting leaking and drenched me! It shot water out all around the part that turns for the different water patterns. I thought maybe it had come loose but tightening it did no good. Sorry to have to give this no stars as it just did not hold up. The price is inexpensive -- maybe that's why -- or I just received a faulty one. The brand is well known and I thought would be better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rugged watering nozzle This mostly metal 5 pattern watering nozzle will replace the plastic watering nozzle that recently came apart. This new one has been being dropped and dragged across the driveway when washing my car and watering the yard. The 5 pattern sprayer has very distinct watering patterns which are very useful and looks very well made. The metal parts include the body and brass adjustment knob which should last longer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from perfect for the price I bought 2 of these for the front and back yard. They have 5 different patterns. Full, stream, mist, flat, and shower. I use the shower pattern for garden. I use the stream to clean off the sidewalk from dirt after gardening. I use mist to spray my daughter for fun. It screws onto your garden hose. Mine doesnt leak at all. It feels great and its simple to use and turn from pattern to pattern.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sturdy adjustable 5-pattern spray nozzle. This water nozzle is a definite improvement over the last 7-pattern nozzle that I had for less than a year. The weight and size of the nozzle will fit anyone's hand very comfortably. The 5-different spray options work very well and seem to deliver better pressure overall. Installation of the nozzle was a snap, especially since the washer was already in place.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sprayer Head This is the best sprayer head I have ever had. The changes between setting have very positive clicks. The head is heavy and has more metal than plastic. The jet is strong and the mist is a really fine mist that my kids love to play with. I went back the next day to get another for the front hose and chucked the plastic on I had.

The product is fine but it would be good if one of the five positions were a "tight" shower to allow shower of plants in 10 inch pots. As it is, too much water is wasted when watering potted plants. Five positions on an ideal sprayer would be Shower, Tight Shower, Jet, Full, and Fan/Sweep.
