Our school's first Sawzall was purchased around 1980. I think they were around 5 amps then. Now, it finally died, so we moved up to this Super Sawzall in 2005 and couldn't have been happier, because the "Super" version was so much better (although bigger and heavier). It ran flawlessly with exception of brush and cord replacements. It went down around a month ago, and that is when I bought this latest incarnation of the Super Sawzall.
I was a little put off by a few of the reviews I saw saying they are now made in Taiwan or China and are plastic and cheaper. And one review mentioned problems the shoe locking mechanism. But I bought this anyway. Over the years I had tried a few other brands' top-of-the-line sawzalls (yellow and teal brands included) that were out on jobs and they were all "junk" compared to the Milwaukees, especially the 15-amp teal saw that had a faulty shoe release lever which constantly broke.
After using this latest 15 amp version of the Milwaukee Sawzall I am impressed with the 2.3-horsepower motor, smoothness (low vibration; much better compared to the yellow saws), speed (faster than the teal saw), and light weight. A superior experience from a superior line of industrial-grade portable power tools.

I have this saw and the 15 amp Makita reciprocating saw as well. Both are true beasts. Milwaukee cuts slightly faster on orbital setting but vibrates more. If you get it stuck be careful it doesn't rip your arms out of the sockets. It's that powerful! Wish it had a larger metal case like the Makita but at least it's a case and not a "contractor bag".

First, the description doesn't mention this sawzall as orbital, but it is in case you may be wondering.
Anyway, this reciprocating saw is a serious professional tool, for contractors or serious professionals. A far cry from the 10amp "default" brand saw I had previously. I use mine daily from everything from lumber to nails and bolts, to pipe, even masonry and tree limbs with the correct blades. Mostly demolition but with the correct blade and steady slow cutting can make some fairly detailed and accurate cuts for a saw designed to demolish building materials quickly.
This saw will not disappoint you, just ask any contractor or tradesman and they'll tell you the same thing.

Okay nowhere on any product review or specifications does it say this baby has orbital cutting stroke, its even better than that, has a slide adjustment from straight cut, for fine cutting, and slide up to orbital cutting for hardcore ripping and cutting fast .. i bought this to cut thru some deep tree roots i had to get thru to trench electrical conduit.. this thig ate it up.. I all my milwaukee tools. this thing is a BEAST..
glad i went with this one vs the cheaper one..

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Kmoney Excellent - Best on the market in this price range... maybe the best PERIOD.
When other saws had bogged down on serious cutting I decided to try this one. This is the most powerful reciprocating saw Milwaukee creates. I've had it a few years and it never showed any signs of not being able to handle the task at hand. It has performed flawlessly for me. I'm now interested in checking out their "FUEL" cordless model for those times when portability is a priority. Milwaukee invented the first reciprocating saw and they still know how to do it. By the way, the one I bought was Made in USA with Domestic and Foreign parts if that makes any difference. I believe this model is still made that way - which is nice for a change.

Worth ever penny. Used this bad boy to cut through some large underground tree roots. Used Diablos Pruning blade and got the job done quick. Highly recommended!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by DIYGUY Very happy with this sawzall's power and performance.
I bought this to demolish a huge old workbench in my basement and this sawzall was up to the task. I also used the 24 tooth metal blade to cut right through some pieces of gutter when I replaced downspouts (much easier than trying to use a hacksaw). The 15 amp has good power, not too heavy, and is easy to use (changing blades is a snap.
