Very well constructed, Filling it with sand was a bit awkward but once filled and the security cap installed, it has a good weight and is very strong. A nice touch is the screw to the side to secure the umbrella.

I knew this product would most likely have an issue with holding a larger umbrella. That is why I decided to fill it with CONCRETE. You would think that would solve any issues. NOT AT ALL. Even with being filled with concrete, this product could not hold the umbrella straight. This product is complete garbage. Do not waste time in a cheap alternative. Get one that will actually work.

Filled it with crushed stone then epoxied the plug in. Plenty heavy enough. Seems to work ok.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by mmmmm Leaks until empty
The plug in the base does not create a good seal, so the product leaks water until it is dry inside. Poor quality control mixed with poor design. About to return this product for a refund.

This is a lightweight piece of junk and won't hold an umbrella straight. We only bought it as it was the only type available in the store. Pass on it.

Can't fill with water, like it clearly states. Think they would have figured that out by now.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by SZ Doesn't fit standard umbrella
Purchased this with the umbrella that it was supposed to work with and the hole is too large to fit into to tighten. Plus to fill it with water you can't because there is a hole in the bottom that will leak out of. Should not even be on the shelves

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Unclebingo NOTE: Patio Umbrella BASE, not STAND. Don't use without a table!
Don't purchase this unless you have a table to support it, this is a base, not a stand.
1. WILL NOT WATER OR SAND: There are several small openings in there including a pin hole in the bottom center, top center and an opening where the screw is mounted on top to hold the pole. Also, the cap on the bottom is not designed to hold water as well. If you do try and fill it, use SMALL ROCKS like landscaping rocks.
2. WILL NOT HOLD THE WEIGHT: Since there is only a single screw to hold the umbrella pole in place it is unstable and WILL tip over once the wind catches it. This is designed as a cheap stand for under a table to keep the base of the umbrella from moving around and from being pulled upward by the wind.
I AM GIVING THIS ITEM A FAIR REVIEW BECAUSE IT WORKS FINE FOR WHATS ITS DESIGNED FOR. A CHEAP UNDER THE TABLE UNBRELLA BASE.
