I am enthusiastically pleased with my purchase of the Pegasus Model SP4589 36" x 31" medicine cabinet!! I chose the Home Depot in-store order pickup and it too was a good experience even though there was some confusion whether the item had actually been delivered and where it was in the store. They finally located it and when they brought it out and I was pleasantly surprised to see it "sandwiched" and solidly strapped between two wooden pallets. They removed the pallets as they loaded the carton into my vehicle home I went.
Although other reviewers had the unfortunate problem of breakage in shipment, mine was perfect. It could not have been packed any better and to think how many times it was handled and knocked around since its manufacture in China.
This is a VERY well-engineered item and its components are top notch, including a polished stainless steel carcass, extruded aluminum wall anchorages, flawless high quality mirrors, tempered glass shelves and especially the slow-close hinges. Every surface of the polished steel, mirrors and glass was covered with a pull-off protective plastic film to prevent scratching and fingerprints during installation. The entire unit was perfectly square and pre-assembly was flawless. Adjustment of the hinges and alignment of the doors was perfect. All installation screws, caps, clips, etc. were present and carefully bagged. The mounting screws are even stainless steel to prevent corrosion.
The first and most important step of installation is making sure to initially place the bottom bracket solidly and level (for a surface mounted cabinet). I'd estimate installed weight of the cabinet to be 50+ pounds so I was fortunate to be able to hit four studs and didn't have to use the plastic anchors. I installed my cabinet so that the bottom edge is approximately 12" above the countertop, which easily clears the faucet by three inches. The entire unit is exactly "symmetrical" and can be rotated top-to-bottom 180 degrees before installation in case you want to change the direction the doors open.
One significant item that isn't mentioned in the installation instructions is that the cabinet doors are easily removable WITHOUT tools by simply pushing a little release button at the rear of each hinge. Just be sure to note the position of each door and re-install it in the same opening you remove it from or you risk the chance of misalignment. This was important for me because I mounted the unit by myself and removing the doors reduced the weight by more than 50%. Once the cabinet carcass installation is complete the doors simply snap back into place. I love the slow-close feature afforded by these deluxe hinges â the same ones used on my bathroom vanity doors.
The quality and value of this unit cannot be beat for the price.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0Â by Roger PEGASUS tri-view mirror / bathroom medicine cabinet
While starting a new bathroom remodel the thought of a mirror/medicine cabinet sounded like a good idea. Shopping around all that was available was some small two-door models with hefty price tags. The Pegasus tri-view, three door medicine cabinet was by far the best deal around. The hinges have a nice feature allowing the doors to clip in and out with ease for cleaning. The primary aluminum unit is susceptible to scratching, but comes with some protective plastic sheeting, so it is wise to leave the plastic on until the final installation. The plan was to recess a cabinet, so there is some preliminary facts to consider before the purchase. The wall luckily had a six inch cavity that is host to the sewer vent pipe (stink stack) and that allowed for plenty of room. The bad news was the stink stack was in the way and would get moved one and a half inches. The wall was a non-support wall, so there was no need to over brace the top and bottom for framing. A light frame was needed on one side to reattach the sheet rock after the stink stack relocation. Another concern was to make sure that the thickness of flooring materials and the sink cabinet and counter are added in to the overall height making sure the mirror doors will clear the top of the faucet. A new style gooseneck faucet may rises above the height of the sink counter, back splash, so make sure all these items are figured in before cutting the opening. Pre-planning is the central issue to a successful install, and as long as all the bases get covered this cabinet fit and mounted well. Be careful when unpacking the unit. It has considerable weight so removal of the doors and shelves is smart in order to manipulate the cabinet when checking fit before final installation.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0Â by alQpoe $1,500 cabinet for $200
I just remodeled my master bath and was looking for a good quality, recessed, mirrored cabinet for under $600. I purchased a Robern #TFC3638 over 8 years ago and was very happy with the product. However, the Robern costs over $1,500. Way out of my current budget. I really liked the Robern because it had an outlet inside for charging razors, toothbrushes, ect. After 8 years the metallic part of the mirror is starting to rust at the edges.
For under $600 there are only 3 or so choices. None of the choices contain outlets. Everything that the big box, do-it-yourself stores display are of poor quality. There wasn't much to choose from so I figured if I didn't like the quality of the Pegasus I would just return it to HD.
When I received the email that it arrived at the local store, I picked it up. I was very concerned about it being damaged after reading the many reviews. Well it looks like someone at HD finally listened. It came upright on a pallet. Crated by wood, strapped to a pallet with surrounding pallets for protection, and plenty of internal protection inside of the box. I'm guessing there was $40+ of packaging and labor involved. Not to mention the cost of shipping a pallet across the US.
I took it home and unpacked it. It was in perfect shape. I first noticed how heavy it was. A true sign of high quality. Each door has 3/16" mirrors on both sides framed by aluminum doors. A full length mirror on the back of the inside of the cabinet. The whole cabinet is made from solid aluminum. The doors are attached by high quality "soft closing" hinges. Something that HD lacked to tell in it's very short description. The center and right side is open and shares 3 x 1/4" glass shelves. My wife and I already have found this useful because shared items like toothpaste can be stored in the middle so it can be reached by both sides without opening the other door. The left side is by itself with 3 x 1/4" glass shelves. The description states adjustable shelves. There are only 3 sets of holes. So by "adjustable" they mean they can be removed to allow more space if needed but they cannot be positioned up or down. I have removed the bottom shelf that spans the center and right side to allow taller items like mouth wash, shaving cream, and electric toothbrushes.
The only con I have is that it doesn't have an option for outlets. So I purchased some aftermarket ones and installed them separately.
In my opinion, I now have a $1,500 mirrored cabinet for under $250 installed.
Attention Home Depot: you should stock these at most locations and increase the price to $350-$500. You will sell a pallet of each every 6 months on average and still be under market value.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0Â by zebrawoman Love my mirror!
This was installed by my contractor. Unfortunately, he installed it a little low, and not quite center. I cannot open the middle section as it hits the faucet (see picture), but I can still access the stuff from the left side. No way was I going to get a different faucet! I just put the less common used stuff there. I absolutely love how the doors close by themselves. (soft touch like my cabinets). A great deal.
