I want to install this on my tub but there's a stupid ledge on the shower inset that is in place. This ledge would be in the path of the riser so I wanted to know if it would clear or not. I just need the measurement of the space between the wall and the pipe. Thanks.

Answer:
It depends how far out you place the faucet. I have mine out at least 6". However, if you have the faucet placed up against the wall you have less than 2" of space between the wall and the raiser pipe.

IT SHOULD FIT JUST FINE. MOST OF THE DO IT YOURSELF STORE CARRY THE SAME BRANDS, AND MOST OF THE PARTS ARE INTERCHANGABLE.

Answer:
Please give more details of what you are trying to do. If you bought a generic tub spout with a pull up knob, yes they should fit most models.
The only thing to make sure of at that point is if you have a screw on tub spout or a slip on.

If you purchased a complete 4185-CP which comes with tub diverter, riser and a shower head, everything in the 4185-CP fits together.
If you ordered a 185-S-CP, that comes with the diverter only, so in that case you would need a 4185R-CP riser and a shower head.
I hope this helps. If you have any further questions about this item, please feel free to give the tech line a call at 847-244-1234 direct with Read More

This product replaced an older leaking unit easily and does the job until I remodel my bathroom. Should be noted the riser shower head has a 3/8" male thread which will not accept a standard 1/2" shower head. Save yourself a trip to the hardware store mid installation and pick up a 3/8" to 1/2" brass bushing and it will all go together in about 15 minutes.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Did not work for me. I was so excited when I found this product online. I thought it was my answer for putting a shower in the kids bath room. It does not work for me because the pipe coming out of my wall that the spout screws on to is too long. My pipe sticks out about 5 inches. This spout is made for a pipe that sticks out only one or two inchs. NO WHERE in the product description states how long the pipe has to be. Cutting off the pipe and re threading is not an option. I am in a rental and have to reinstall the original when I move out. I guess the kids will just have to keep using my shower. Bottom line. Check the pipe length coming out of your wall before you buy this product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solves the problem The product solves the problem very well. To get the best usage, add an extension for more height, and a 3/8 female to 1/2 male coupling for a better shower head. I am sure this will solve the problem if you have an old bathroom without a shower.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy to install, great that you do not have to tear wall apart. it is great with one exception.....you cannot change shower heads; it is not universal

Rated 3 out of 5 by from You get what you pay for - but it is a solution If you should find yourself living in an apartment that for some VERY strange reason has NO shower but does have a tub this is a relatively easy solution to your problem. It looks pretty good (for the price). The diverter leaks a small amount (however they pretty much all do at this price range - its not really a problem just don't expect to return it and get one that does not leak). Most importantly: YOU WILL NEED a 1/2" NPT pipe couple (if you can find one that is chrome that would be great) and an 8-12" long 1/2" NPT pipe nipple. This wil go between the faucet and the vertical pipe. This thing is rediculously short - if you are only 4.5 feet tall it might be ok I am 6'3" and would recomend a 12" extension. This neccesary modification unfortunately definately detracts from the aesthetic quality of the instalation. Overall, this is an inexpensive solution - there are probably 4 different people selling this item on line with different names I believe they are all the same and this is the best deal.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from good for older homes easy to install but diverter spout is super short. attached a new shower head with a longer extension and now works perfectly fine. good for older homes with the help of a few extra parts.
