Is the actual flooring lighter than the sample from the store.

I am trying to match the floor with paneling. The sample looks perfect but in some of the pictures it looks lighter
Asked by: Maple1950
Thank you for your interest in Pergo. We recommend that you judge the color on the sample, not on photos on the computer as they may vary from monitor to monitor. All samples are cut from actual planks of flooring.

How do we prepare a concrete floor below grade to install this product? Do we need to put down a plastic vapor barrier?

Asked by: Anonymous
First make sure you have no existing moisture problems, especially below grade. Be sure to check the walls because if water comes through the walls it will settle to the floor. Use a vapor barrier with taped seams. WARNING!!! BE AWARE THAT IF YOU BUY A PALLET YOU CAN NOT RETURN ANY INDIVIDUAL BOXES. I GOT STUCK WITH $500 OF LEFT OVER BOXES THEY WOULD NOT TAKE BACK.!!!

My sub floor in dining room is same height as my sliding glass door track, can I put pergo down or will it be too high?

Asked by: Anonymous
You could cut back the last board before the sliding door and use a sloped moulding to finish at the door. When you exit or enter through the door, you probably don't step within that 2 or 3 inch area, so the sloped moulding would not create a trip hazard.

Floor creeks when walked on, and end corners are curling up. What can to done to reduce the creeking noise.

Of all the laminate installs I have done, this one was hard. Had to pull up and relay the floor up to three times in one area because the end joints kept "flaking" apart. Now that it is down(looks great except for some corners curling), it creeks when walked on. Is there anyway to lubricate the joints to stop the noise. If I have to replace the floor it won't be with Pergo because the current end joint design is not so hot, in my opinion. I have installed Pergo in 3 other rooms with excellent results. Have also used Dupont and another brand as well.

Follow up to Pergo response. They are replacing the flooring as a courtesy not because there is something wrong with the flooring. Obviously, they believe there were installation problems but no one knows how to install the flooring any differently than the way it was. Such a waste to take the floor up and install new if its going to do the same thing. The creaking is worse than ever and you can feel the pieces move under you feet; and, the end are curling even more from the movement. Obviously the joints are not secure. The inspector found nothing wrong. What can I do to improve, the flooring is being installed over 5/8" plywood sub floor in a second floor room.

XP Asheville Hickory 10 mm Thick x 7-5/8 in. Wide x 47-5/8 in. Length Laminate Flooring (20.25 sq. ft. / case) is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 122.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't get! Damaged goods Ok where to start.... I wanted to love this floor. Great color. However, the planks don't have beveled ridges. Meaning the ends are flat and the seams are flat so when they snap together and you rub your hand across it there is a lip. It catches feet, socks, etc.... We baught 62 boxes and because of the lip the ends easily snap off, it's not attaching smoothly to each other. The flooring is brand new plywood. So I can't imagine even trying other old floor bases with this defect. Please heed my warning. Now special ordering the Pergo with a beveled edge to feel seemless.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Floating Wood Floor Replacement We replaced some old carpet in our living room, hallway and office, and though it took me a few days to complete the process, it was very easy to work with, and looks great. I tested a small piece of the flooring material in water to see how it would react, and found that even if it's soaks in water for a while, once it dries, it will return to it's original form and structure, for the most part. It has a limited lifetime warranty, and is rated for pets. We have a large puppy who will test it, I'm sure. Most of all, it's comfortable, lasting, and looks great with our remodeled living room. My wife is very happy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this Laminate! Absolutely love this laminate flooring. I had assistance putting it in but it was a very smooth process. It has the padding already attached to the back and snaps together with ease. The finished product looks better than I had imagined it would and I am extremely satisfied. In the future, I would like to replace the other laminate that was already in my house, with this.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pergorific I just finished installing 550 Sq. ft. of Asheville Hickory Pergo flooring. I've never done flooring before. I watched the on line video's and read the instructions and that provided enough direction for the installation. I would recommend ripping a 3/4 inch pine board and make your own 3/8 inch spacing boards for the edges. Also recommend a cut off saw with a laminate blade (tungsten carbide) vs. a skill saw. The Pergo has a very hard surface and actually wore out the blade on the cut off saw. Also recommend the purchase of the laminate installation kit and a rubber mallet to tap the Pergo in place. Use the technique to insert the Pergo at a 30 deg angle. For multiple planks in a row, carefully slide the edges together and insert the next piece at the same 30 deg angle. When the row is done tip the entire row down flat. This works best with 2 people for long rows. I struggled a bit by myself. I purchased the matching quarter round and that finished off the free floating edge quite nicely. Knee pads are a worth while purchase but watch putting your knee on the groove edge of the Pergo when moving around because edge will break if you put your knee on the edge. I can't speak for long term performance it only been installed for a week. The surface is very hard and seems hard to scratch. All seams are tight with no gaps when tapped tightly in place. The floor does look beautiful. I purchased felt for my furniture legs and even heavy pieces of furniture can easily be moved around by one person. I'm happy with the install and look. If you are a skilled do it yourself type the project is reasonable. A newbie might need some help. The 10% waste rule worked for me I had to planks left over. I would give it 5 stars but don't don't know what the long term will bring.

The Asheville Hickory was a perfect replacement for the worn and outdated parquet flooring that was original to the house. The flooring's varied grains and color tones contrasts nicely with the light oak cabinets, giving the room a warm glow. The finish gives a shine to the surface without being slippery, which is important for older adults. With a thickness of 10mm, the floor is solid underfoot. The installation was very easy, with the pad attached to the flooring and the lock-in tabs which were literally a snap to secure. The wide planks made laying the floor go quickly. I have installed several floors, using Pergo twice. I decided to use Pergo because of the great wear I got in a previous home. The floor was just installed a few days ago, but I expect it to perform as well as my last Pergo product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful! We installed this ourselves and the color turned out awesome! Flooring looks durable, very sturdy and easy to install. I have friends who bought those cheap ones and the locking joints easily came off and now they are regrettimg their purchase. Pergo is a bit expensive but well worth the price and quality.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from ASHEVILLE HICKORY FLOOR The product looks good when put down. Why however would Pergo make a product like this and not have the molding strips to match? When joining the planks end to end it is a one shoot deal, (at least my experience). If you have to take them apart it will rip the lower locking lug apart. It can cause unusable planks. It does look good when in.The Dupont I put down years ago had a more user friendly locking process, however they don't make the product any longer. The only reason I do not recommend this product is only because I rarely recommend something like this to a person. Each person has a different comfort level on this type of buy.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Concerned Floor is beautiful no doubt. But I bought 6 boxes and randomly throughout the boxes was bad like there was white and black edges on the planks therefore couldn't be used how that got packed is beyond me it is very noticeable so you can't take back one piece or 5 pieces so I had to buy another box to get 3 planks which sucked. So was disappointed in that it beautiful but you get screwed with the amount of waste you have and throw in a few bad boards puts a huge damper on buying hardwood floor. It's not cost effective like you think!
