Will this work with 5/16 inch channel frame

Asked by: Trigger
Yes, as durable as this screen is, it will still fit into a 5/16" channel quite nicely....

What is the recommended installation method for wood frames without spline?

Picture wood frame screens with wood molding. Can this be installed with staples with wood screen molding on top?
Asked by: markyd
With our 1940's wood frame screen doors you staple the screen to the door frame, then put 3/4" wood trim over the stapled edges, then with a utility knife trim off the excess screening that extends beyond the trim pieces.

We used it to replace some old aluminum screening in our screen doors. If you've screened before with regular screening, I can tell you this stuff is roughly twice as hard to get into the spline channel. This is because it's WAAAAY thicker than regular screening. It's definitely a two-person project (one person to insert spline and the second to pull that spline tight and make it thinner). Also, try to use your old spline, if at all possible, as it will be thinner than new spline. I cannot imagine trying to use new spline with this screening. Again, this stuff appears to be extremely tough and I think it will hold up well.

Works fine and my cats can climb on it and hang on till their hearts content. Does not hurt the screen or effect it. I would have given it 5-Stars, but it annoys me (and I just don't get it) as the small roll I ordered comes with the new spline and a cheap roller, but the $50.00 - $100.00+ rolls of the same product do not come with new spline. I had to use the old spline. It worked, just annoying. If you do the math, it's not like they are giving you a discount whereby they can't afford the spline (which costs pennies to manufacture) along with a cheap roller.

Our Kittens loved climbing up and down the door with no damage to the screen. Dang kittens!....but they are still inside rather than outside. I also bought a roll of screen product to replace all other key screens in the house.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Finally, a solution for my holy screens! My 3 cats learned early on how to open my patio screen doors by clawing them sideways. We installed locks, but that only made matters worse. They created huge holes in the screens trying to open them. So for a year we lived with "holy" screens. We couldn't even open our doors without barricading the screens so they wouldn't get out. Ugly! I was very skeptical about this product, but thankfully the reviews convinced me. I now have beautiful screens on my patio slider and French doors!! No more barricades or nasty holes. Best part is that they are also attractive. Only a shade darker than the old screens. I plan to buy more to replace other window screens that have been damaged.
