Rated 4 out of 5 by from Really nice, however the mute button is not good I use this as an over-the-head set and I don't use the little silicon ear insert, I use the over-the-ear cushion, and it is very comfortable. I spend 3-4 hours on the phone per day as I telecommute: comfortable; good battery life for my use; great range throughout the house. My only gripe keeping this from a 5 is the Mute button. The mute should have been a separate button from the volume control. Pressing down on it can something create a double-click, and you aren't always sure if it is enabled or not. I sometime have to press it several times to make sure it is engaged. On the CS55, there was a faint little beep to tell you Mute is engaged, on this head set none.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from cs540 86179-01 headset it works well enough but it needs to have a noise cancelling feature for when you have it in your ear as well as more comfort the plastic piece is latex and several of our folks can't use it due to allergies and the ones who do use it complain that it makes your ear sweat and it hurts after a while. the other problem is when you switch to the headband that it breaks off very easily it is not user friendly at all.

I've still not heard back from Plantronics when they will send me a product that actually works since I bought one I've never been able to use.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from plastic HURTS ear our office has worn/used Plantronic wireless head sets for years. I just purchased 5 - of the 540 units and everyone one of us have been complaining how the plastic ear holder is so uncomfortable. The last wireless was flexable and very comfortable.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Battery issue Bought approx. 1 year ago and had to replace battery. While replacing battery, the little connector box that the battery plugs into came out. I am requesting a replacement, and fingers crossed they will come thru for me.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not worth the hassle I use this headset for my job. I've been through 2 in less than 2yrs. For $350 a pop they should get more life out of them. The base stops charging and the headsets lose their charge too quickly.
