Hi-so I am looking to purchase my first nail gun for household projects like board and batten and replacing baseboards. Would this gun handle those jobs? If not could you kindly offer suggestions? Thanks.

Answer:
23Ga pin nailers are for fastening shoe molding, cabinet crown, decorative molding, etc. For a base board, it's better to use 16Ga (FN250C) or 18Ga nailer (BN200C).

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.8 out of 5 by 37 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by An excellent choice for the price The pin nailer did what was suppose to do. It was able to drive 1-3/8"pin nails sub-flush into hardwood, in my case Cherry. The nailer did it consistently and with the no mar rubber protector, there were no dents. The tool feels solid and is well made and I expect will last a long time. I have Porter Cable's 16 gauge finish nailer and their 18 gauge brad nailer and had these tools for the past 10 years. I did not give the tool 5 stars because I've only had it for a couple of weeks. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good Pin Nailer So far, this pin nailer has worked very well. No jams. Smooth operation. Consistent shot. August 2, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent tool! I'm a professional finish carpenter and I've used other micro nailers in the past but I have been making do without one for too long. I wish I would have bought one sooner! Works excellent for nailing miters to even tiny pieces. It only leaves a tiny nail hole that doesn't require filler even on stain grade trim. Tool comes ready to use and I would highly recommend this tool for anyone who wants to step up there carpentry game. January 5, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works well I used the 23 gauge pin nailer to hang some corner round molding at the top of the ceiling after we removed styrofoam tiles and painted instead. There was a gap between the old crown molding and the ceiling and I didn't want to redo it all. This nailer shot through the molding and into very old wood without any issue. Didn't jam or have any other difficulties while doing this job. I expect it to last a long time. While I may not use it regularly, it's a nice addition to have handy. January 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent tool. I purchased this to finish an antique screen door. I was able to prefinish and then install the window trim with no touch up or trim damage. Saved huge amounts of time over other fastening methods. January 29, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great product to help make that perfect finish. Great piece of equipment to help make those little added touches to trim work. February 10, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fantastic This nailer is really amazing. The brads are absolutely microscopic. I do wish it allowed for adjustment on the gun end for depth or air pressure, but I've not experimented much with the compressor end adjustment just yet. I've been shooting this through pine moulding into maple plywood, and it's doing very well. Sometimes, I'll have the head at an angle that leaves MAYBE 1/32 or 1/16 of an inch of the brad sticking out, but those brads are so small, I'll follow up on them with a fine file and virtually wipe them off the surface. The photo is an aquarium I've been building for a friend. All of the moulding on the face that you see is held on with glue and brads, and you can't see them at all. August 18, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Replacement for the PIN100 Having worn out my 10 year old Porter Cable PIN100, I purchased Porter Cable's latest pin nailer. I really like the fact that it handles headless nails longer than 1 inch. The price was only $15 more than I paid for the PIN100 and the quality is typical Porter Cable. It was the perfect addition to my Porter Cable power tool collection August 25, 2015
