It doesn't include the keeper, which makes the lock worthless. There's nothing for the latch to connect to to keep the door locked. It's shown in the diagram, which suggests it's included. Returning this.

This handle is relatively well built in comparison to the handle it replaced of the same style, especially with regard to the latch hook that mounts to the door frame which the locking mechanism engages with and the wooden handle is rounded on the inside and has a nice girth which makes opening the door more comfortable than the old handle which featured a flat, rectangular piece of wood.
UNIVERSAL is the key word with this product and as such is meant to fit a wide variety of doors meaning you may need to make modifications to the existing door or the kit itself; because of this, the instructions are very basic since they cannot cover all possible installation configurations and a certain level of aptitude is required for installation.
For my particular application, I installed this as a replacement on an older sliding glass door made of aluminum. The door itself needed modification to accommodate the the inner locking mechanism properly because the new parts were slightly larger in size and the latch hole needed to be enlarged for the lock to properly engage with the new hook latch on the door frame. I used a Dremel Saw Max for the cuts though I would recommend a handheld Dremel or similar cutting tool for more precise cuts (if necessary for your installation).
As for modification to the door handle itself, I had to trim the tab length on the back lock tumbler to properly fit into the handle based on the thickness of my door and flip the orientation of the outside handle. This kit comes with extra hardware, including screws of varied length and I was able to successfully install the handle using the shorter machine screws provided.
One thing I noted when fitting the handle to the door is there is no gasket between the handle and the door. Being a metal on metal installation, I chose to apply some clear silicone caulking on the flat edge of the outside handle before securing it with screws.

To start of, when we got this handle, it didn't really work with our door, but we messed around with it and modified the hook that the door latches to so it would work. And now the door (interior) handle has broke at both screws that mounts the handle to the door. The only thing holding it on is the lock. Poorly made product, but we have no other choice but to buy another one, or buy a whole new door setup. They only carry one universal sliding door handle (with lock) at our local Home Depot and Lowes, and it is this piece of junk.

Didn't work with our door, it was the wrong mount, it was pretty much our fault but we made it work anyway... However, it is not very sturdy and already loose on the door.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Mike locking mechanism did not work with the existing door. wound up using a dowel.
The handle on our door broke (18 years old) so needed to re[place handle. lock was not that important in this instance. The plan is to replace the slider anyway.
