This trenching shovel was good for removing clumps of my clay soil once it was loose with a pick ax or spade shovel. My trench was 22" deep and 100' long so using this shovel instead of my hands makes it well worth the $27.

There's no place to put your foot on it to push it in the ground and the angle it's curved to makes it difficult to use. Look elsewhere if you need to trench something. We used it for about 5 feet and just used a regular shovel for the rest of the way because it was easier.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from It has one flaw This shovel does a great job, but the place where you rest your foot to push the shovel in the ground is very small. My foot constantly slips off the shovel when I push it in the ground. I always use work boots so it did not work out for me so well. I would give it 5 stars but since I had so much trouble with it I gave it 2 stars

Fortunately Florida has loose, sandy soil and digging was as easy as could be expected. The top lip, where you push down with foot could be a little wider and have a squared off edge to improve leverage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Razor -Back 47.5 in. Wood handle trenching shovel Worked great, they had another one that looked a little better, but would have been to wide for the trench that the trencher made.I used it to clean out the rocks and dirt that fell back in after using the trencher I rented. It sure saved my back.

Of ... product is built sturdy, but the design limits it's use to removing only very loose material. Of all the tools I have bought in my life, this was probably the only worthless tool I have ever bought. Money thrown away.
