Can this be used on fireplace tile?

Asked by: SunnySharon
Happy to help! Rust-Oleum Specialty Appliance Epoxy is specifically formulated for indoor metal surfaces. This will not adhere to a tile surface. Also, it is not recommended for surfaces exposed to heat. If the tiles are around the front of the fireplace and the surface does not exceed 200 degrees Fahrenheit you may consider Rust-Oleum Tile Transformations instead. Can this be used on the plastic portions of dishwasher door?

Asked by: Kay
Kay, Rust-Oleum Specialty Appliance Epoxy is not recommended for plastic surfaces. This product is designed to adhere to metal surfaces only. Instead, use Rust-Oleum Painter’s Touch Ultra Cover 2X Spray Paint. This product is designed to adhere to several surfaces, including plastic. http://www.homedepot.com/p/Rust-Oleum-Painter-s-Touch-2X-12-oz-Gloss-Black-General-Purpose-Spray-Paint-249122/202071353

Great paint with a really hard finish that resists wear and tear that makes for easy clean up of the painted item. Usage notes: 1. Prep-work is vitally important for a good finish. The surface HAS to be perfectly clean for proper adhesion (when you think it is clean clean it again). I suggest using fine sandpaper or scouring pad to prep the surface in order to give it a little "tooth" for the paint to stick to. Wipe clean, then clean the surface with a fast drying agent such as alcohol or lacquer thinner. 2. Spray outdoors if possible. If not possible it is important that you cover ALL surrounding areas because the over-spray will stick to everything (permanently). I have used this product to paint appliances, metal, plastic, and ceramic (bathroom sink) and have always been happy with the results.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great paint, but takes a bit more care in application I originally started using this paint on metal portions of older computer equipment. I'm not sure if I even painted a refrigerator with it yet! I use in on painted metal pieces that I know may see some abuse. I recently repainted steel metal legs for a heavy duty workbench, and an indor ceiling fan. No primer was needed. I use brake cleaner spray, as a final degreaser, before painting. (I also use brake cleaner spray to clean out the spray tips between uses). I apply this paint the way I always spray from a can. Do a nice dusting coating first. DO NOT go for full coverage or color right away. Dust everything, let it flash a bit.. Once you dust it all, start going back over in medium coats, building it up. Then move in closer and finish piece with a solid coat (nozzle closer). This dusting, first, gives much better results, than going at it full bore. It reduces chances of running, and allows paint to grab onto edges. As instructions state, let cure for a week, before the next coat. Plan you painting well, and you need only do it once. If you need a smooth gloss finish, this paint will buff, even by hand. I highly recommend it, as a durable paint, with a nice finish. Follow some tips, and you'll be golden. And yes, as other reviewers have stated, the overspray is very tacky! protect surroundings, and your lungs. There is a lingering dry time, and I would wait 12-24 hours to handle the stuff. It's worth the wait! Apply very easy, at first, then ramp it up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Updating a Refrigerator from 1984 This product was very easy to use. We moved our old bisque & white refrigerator into the garage. Prior to purchasing the spray paint, I used a magic eraser on everything. You will want to clean your appliance with a degreaser, otherwise the paint will be splotchy in those areas (this happened in a small area, but I just touched it up with a black permanent marker). I removed both doors and taped off the inside with packing paper and painter tape. I laid the doors down and taped off the plastic gaskets/sides. Then I started spraying the side. The spray paint is much more runny then regular paint, so you will need to be very careful. I had a few areas that ran, but since I used black, it is not very obvious. Once the side was done, I did the other side. Then I did the front and then the top and some of the back. Then I did the doors, which I had laying down. This was much easier. I also sprayed the "wood" refrigerator handle. There is a ton of overspray, you will DEFINITELY need to be wearing a mask!!! I wore a respirator and glasses, and after I was done with it all, I could feel that there was spray paint in my hair - this stuff really floats around. I am glad I was wearing older shoes because they also turned black. I guess my point is to wear old clothes and please cover your eyes and mouth, as this is not like normal spray paint. I let everything dry for 24 hours, reassembled everything, and now I have a nice "new" shiny black refrigerator. The textured doors accepted the paint well and I definitely recommend this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This stuff works great! I used this to repaint an entire fridge, inside and out, and it worked great. It doesn't run as much as other paint, and it sprays better than any other rustoleum product. I also used it paint some super old faded plastic lawn chairs, and it made them look good as new. It dries fast, resists water, and isn't sticky afterwards. The possibilities are endless!
