Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ideal for the occassional handyman... I owned a Skill circular saw for years. No complaints. I just wore it out. I wanted to buy a Rigid circular saw, but it was a little heavier than the Ryobi. I have other Ryobi power tools, and they serve me well. I do like the laser guide a lot. Really a lot. All I have cut is pine boards so far, but my cuts have been straight and smooth. A sharp blade makes the cutting easier, but this Ryobi is very powerful and ideal for an occasional handyman like me.

Lightweight and one of the less expensive Circular Saws that does include a laser directional guide. I found it easy to use for a small project cutting pavers and then a large Formica on pressboard counter top. Changing blades was easy although it does not have an Allen wrench or wrench (either will work) mounted on it, supply and secure your own. Nice carrying bag and a guide rake come with the saw, I should just throw one of my many extra Allen wrenches in the bag too with the extra specialty blades. Longevity under heavy use and potential loss of laser adjustment remain to be seen with time.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Low Quality and Bad Service Purchased this saw just under one year ago for general home use. Works relatively well for basic ripping of standard dimensional lumber but is not well suited for ripping or cross cutting of sheet products. Discovered that blade and base plate were out of square by approximately 1.5 mm which caused binding of the blade and destruction of 3/4 inch plywood when attempting to cut utilizing a straight edge. Saw does not have any ability to adjust this alignment which leads me to believe that it is a manufacturing defect. Called for warranty service and was told that it needed to be checked by service center. Took saw to local Home Depot for service and was charged $18.95 service fee before they would check the saw. Was told that service fee would be refunded if service was covered under warranty but only after Ryobi determined that it was a warranty item. After more than a week I was contacted and told that the only issue found was that the laser site needed adjustment and the saw was tested and cut straight. Had to pay an additional $15.00 for site adjustment and nothing was covered by the warranty. Tested saw once I got it home and still have the same issue. Final thoughts are that a $69.00 saw cost an additional $33.95 (almost half of the original cost) to find that the warranty appears to be useless. Ryobi has officially lost a customer for life.
