Product Overview

SharkBite PEX tubing is a cross-linked polyethylene tubing for a wide range of residential and commercial plumbing applications. Manufactured without an oxygen barrier for potable water systems (available in white, blue, and red). A repeating SharkBite imprint pattern provides a visual aid to determine if the tube has been inserted all the way into the SharkBite Push-Fit Fitting. This feature only works if the tubing is cut between the SharkBite imprint pattern.

  • Strong, flexible, corrosion-resistant pipe
  • Flexibility reduces number of fittings needed to complete a job; reducing cost and leak points
  • Can be installed wet or dry for immediate pressure testing
  • SharkBite imprint pattern provides a visual aid to ensure pipe is fully inserted when using SharkBite push-to-connect fittings
  • SharkBite system provides a variety of connection options, SharkBite PEX can be connected with SharkBite push-to-connect fittings or barbed fittings
  • Listed to NSF 14 and CSA B137.5 for use in potable water systems
  • Meets UL1821 standard for plastic piping for fire systems (3/4 in. and 1 in. only)
  • Manufactured and tested to meet or exceed the requirements of the ASTM F-876/877/2023 and CSA B137.5

Customer Questions & Answers

Is it fairly flexible?

I need something that is flexible and only 1/2 to 3/4 inch in diameter.
Asked by: Tlion
Yes, you can do up to a 90 degree, which should be supported, but I routinely do small bends which you can with copper.

Will pex burst if it freezes with water in it?

Asked by: Jay
Hi Jay, PEX is freeze resistant; however, as with any other plumbing material, PEX must be insulated to protect from freezing.

The specs list the minimum working temp at 32 degrees. What exactly does that mean?

Asked by: McRod
The minimum working temperature is based on the freezing temperature of water.

1/2 in. x 5 ft. Red PEX Pipe is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 8.

This is a great length of PEX for small jobs and I recently used it to replace a plumbing assembly in my laundry room. 5 ft was all I needed. I like PEX because it can bend easily and saves time over using multiple copper fittings. I noticed the factory cuts are not perfectly flat but I also realized that shark bite fittings dont require an exceptionally flat end to the tubing, it can be a little slanted.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from As advertised Great pipe, easy to use, but DO get the pipe cutting tool for square cuts. I did not and it took a bit to get ends square. I could have saved some time with the correct tool.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to install plumbing This system of plumbing can help to make even the "worst" of handymen into a "pro" plumber. Cuts easily. Can make minor bends. Installs easily as part of the entire Shark system.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Every home handyman should have this in his garage All the plumbing I've ever done has been with copper piping and sweated or compression fittings. After moving to upstate New York the vast majority of the plumbing I've encountered is PEX tubing. I love it. It's so much more forgiving and easier to work with than ridged pipe. This five foot piece is great to have on hand for quick repairs.
