Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by BerwynHomeowner Great Alternative to Universal Garage Door Openers
Wired this to the button that opens my garage because the remote was lost and the universal remotes didn't work (old system). This was a great (and cost effective) alternative than trying to buy a whole new garage opening system. Note: you will not be able to program your car's internal garage door opener with this however. I tried with my 2003 Nissan Maxima.

This universal remote control kit works very well but required adaptation before it would work with my very old Genie Garage Door Opener. I had to find a power supply and then had to run additional wires to the opener.
The instructions were complete enough that I was able to easily adapt the remote to my purposes. For the price, this was an awesome purchase.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by MrMark Works better than one might think from reading the description
I installed this on an ancient Sears garage door opener that came with the house. It took me less than a minute to install it and program the remote. I have not fully tested the range, but it did work fine at the very end of the driveway, which is at least 80 feet from the receiver location.
Aesthetically, I would like it better if the red light on the receiver didn't flash constantly, but one could stick a piece of tape over it if one cared. I also had no use for a three-button remote since the garage only has one door, but it was easy enough to just program all of the buttons into the receiver, so it doesn't matter which one gets pressed.
By the way, in case you are trying to figure out just exactly what this thing does and couldn't really get it from the description, it is basically a replacement receiver that comes with a remote control. Reading between the lines, it was probably intended to solve the interference issues that came about when certain government agencies started using the frequencies that older garage door openers depend upon.
On may garage door opener, the receiver was able to derive power from the garage door opener, so no additional power supply was required. The same company also offers a power supply for use in cases where the receiver cannot get the power it needs from the connected device. I think this would probably work with just about anything that would normally be activated by a low-voltage push-button.

Perfect to add remote control to any push-button-only device -- ideal to use on garage doors prior to 1973(?) that do not have a synch button to pair-up a new portable remote.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Chris Easy 10 minute install
I bought this to be able to add additional remotes to our almost 20 year old garage door opener as there aren't remotes available for it anymore. This option is a fantastic value and here's why:
*Includes all the necessary tools. The wiring has a crimping box. There's also a small crimping tool included as well. It comes with double sided tape or screws and drywall anchors for attaching the receiver to the wall. The only tool I needed that wasn't included in the package was a screwdriver.
*The receiver crimps directly into the existing wiring of your current opener wall switch. It even comes with a crimping tool. No additional wiring is needed to tie it into the current system.
*I was expecting to have to find an AC power supply to make it work with the old opener, but fortunately it hooked right up.
Overall, a great, well made, and easy to install device.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by DIYtaco Quick Cheap Easy Solution for a wireless entry remote
Works exactly as advertised. Best solution for the money. Comes with everything you need and easy instructions. I installed it on a 20yr old garage opener and works flawlessly. The range isn't as far as I'd like (about 30ft. so if you install in the back of your garage and not directly on the opener itself, the range may not be far enough. Transmitter looks old but you never see it, and the remote looks nice and is easily programmable w/ 3 buttons. Would recommend. Easy and quick solution to not having a wireless garage door opener

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Lonebirch Installation of the wiring is critical.
The quick connector does not always make a good connection. One unit required an additional power supply on a unit listed as one it worked with. Technical assistance is spoty at best. If you have a problem cut the line and splice the receiver in.

The product instructions are up front with the clause that if it does not work properly with an older door the extra power supply is needed. I tried without and it did not work so I ordered the exterior power supply - only 5 bucks or so - an it works perfectly. As always - thru Home Depot it was a trusted vendor transaction with no glitches.
