I wanted something to cover my cover as it was getting cracked due to exposure. This cover is far less expensive than replacing the cover

I have owned two of these (similar) caps, so I do know a thing or two about them. I will be comparing this cap the two I have previously owned. I ordered the 7' x 7' cap because my spa cover is 7' x 7'. I will also add that I paid the same price for the original two caps as I did the Home Depot one.
The first thing I noticed was that the new cap was a lighter weight tarp material much like a silver tarp you would you might pay $2~$3 for at a discount store. The material was cut uneven, and the single stitching was not straight. My other two caps were much more heavy duty, at least 2~3 times thicker & much stronger than this one with straight even cuts and double stitched throughout.
The cap is built much like a fitted bed sheet. The trick to installing one of these caps is to start off by placing two of the corners on one end of the spa cover. Then with the aid of a helper raise the other end of the cover part way and place the other two corners over the cover. Now slowly and gently lower the spa cover with the cap in place being careful that the cap does not get over-stretched and tear. It also helps to make sure the tarp is warmed up a bit. I kept it in the 75 degree house until time of installation.
I could only get the spa cover to come down to within 2~3 feet of closing, the cap was that tight. I tried several times with the same results. The original caps went on snugly, but they did fit right from the beginning.
I finally gave up and began the return process. Everything was going well until the customer rep told me I had to pay the $6 return postage. She told me I could return the cap to any Home Depot for free. The closest store is over 200 miles from my home, so that wasn’t going to happen. I then read the HD return policy to her, “Return shipping costs will be the responsibility of the customer unless the return is the result of an error by Homedepot.com.” I explained that this was obviously a defective and inferior product. She told me that Home Depot shipped the product that I had ordered and that they had made no error.
I have been a loyal customer of Home Depot for many years, but is seems they will not stand behind the products they sell. I will never order anything from them online again, and will have to think twice about making another in-store purchase. It’s just not worth the hassle and expense of paying to return an item that was defective in the first place – not my fault!

It's perfect! Just what we needed for our spa cover. Wish we had got one before our cover was ruined from age and weather damage, but it hides that beautifully until our new cover gets here and then it will serve to protect that!

The only thing bad is that the wind keeps blowing it off the spa. It needs a stronger band around the edges.
