I'm looking to replace a TORO Super800 unit. Is this the modern-day equivalent?

I'm looking to replace a TORO Super800 unit. Is this the modern-day equivalent?
Asked by: Tim
Yes, both the ProStream XL and T5 RapidSet rotors are equivalents. The T5 rotor, however, comes with an additional patented RapidSet® technology for easy, tool-free adjustments along with a full set of 8 standard nozzles and 4 low angle nozzles. The ProStream rotor includes the tool for adjustments along with 3 nozzles.

What can replace series 300-03 sprinkler head?

Asked by: Arnie
You can use the ProStream gear-drive rotors if you plan to replace all of the heads in the zone. Otherwise, you can replace the single 300-03 head with either a Toro model 53877 (Adjustable pattern PRN) or Toro model 53878 (Full pattern PRN).

Customer Reviews

ProStream XL 6644.24 sq. ft. Black Gear-Drive Rotor Sprinkler is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 17.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to install - saved a ton of money This is a great alternative to the $88/hour labor charge plus parts (marked up 4x) of the local sprinkler company. We replaced 3 of these heads and 2 of the smaller heads. Note that if you are replacing the Super series (an older head from about 10 years ago) it wil fit and it is 5 inches. The older head has the threads on the outside and the newer one on the inside, so it makes the newer one look taller, but they are the same size and it fits perfectly. Easy to adjust.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Hard to adjust, unreliable I have had this model or a similar previous model Toro sprinkler in my largish back yard for a few years now. They were pretty easy to install initially, but adjusting the coverage is a real pain. You have to push down and turn the sprinkler while it is spraying water. You get soaked, and it usually takes several tries to get it to "take". Every few months I have to back out and try to adjust them again, as they somehow lose their adjustment over time. After a few years they can no longer be adjusted correctly any longer. One by one I have been replacing them with another brand (also from Home Depot) that uses a key inserted into the top to adjust the coverage. Much, much easier. I don't have as many years on the new ones yet, but I'm hopeful that they will continue to be as convenient as they have been so far. No more Toro for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to set up,good over all coverage The secret to the heads adjustment is to set your left stop. Your adjustment for 0 to 360 degrees can be done with no problems after that. The distance adjustment is done with the screw above the nozzle. Installed 18 of these in my lawn with on problems. Home Depot had best price and great shipping. Thanks Home Depot!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Limited choice of spray nozzles This purchase was made to replace an old sprinkler unit that became non-functional. Good product, but it's a single stream unit and all my older Toro sprinkler heads have 2 stream nozzles. Two stream nozzles should be included, or a multiple nozzle tree including 2-stream nozzles should be made available.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from professional sprinkler for a large lawn I bought this sprinkler online after reading the specifications. Did not see or notice that it required a 3/4" pipe. That is find but I didn't want to fuss with the 3/4" to 1/2" adaptor as the nipple was above 1/2" foot deep.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Tried twice. Not good. I bought this head to replace a Toro Super 800..Installed and turned on and NO ROTATION. Returned it and bought another. The new one rotated for 10 minutes then stopped. I called Toro customer service. The first person could not help me and transferred me to tech support. A recording took my name and number for a call back. I have been waiting for over a week for call back. I am done with Toro sprinklers.
