Customer Reviews

TimeCutter SS4200 42 in. 452cc Zero-Turn Riding Mower with Smart Speed is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 75.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from 08' model into 9th yr. and still kicking... BUT....... 2008 Zero Turn SS4200. First of all, hats off to Kohler engines! This engine has mowed some pretty tough yards over the past 9 years and it wont quit! But the PROBLEMS? HANDLE LEVERS: Cheaply welded! Brand new lasted maybe 2yrs. Then, because of the OUTRAGEOUS price to replace them, I made my own and MINE have lasted 6+ yrs. MUFFLER: I'm about to have to buy my 4th muffler if i can't reinvent my own. Its location means it's gonna take some hits if the back end gets low enough.... and I have those low spots. GRASS SHOOT: Broke two. Not replacing it due to its price, and breaks too easy. Otherwise, maintenance will keep this machine mowing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bought the cheapest Zero Turn and I'm glad I didn't spend more I still feel like zero-turn mowers are a little over priced, but after two cuts, the only thing I can fault about this one is that the tires are lacking a little traction. Whether it's the size or the tread, I'm unsure, but it slips a bit on my gentle hills, or even in slightly damp conditions. Other than that, I love it. I did landscaping 15 years ago using commercial Walker zero-turn mowers, so have something to use as a baseline, and I'm surprised at how much you get for a residential zero-turn. Great cut, easy to use, starts easily, fast, plenty power, even on hills.... actually quite fun too! I'll be adding the bag at some point.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from horrible Had this mower just a year, in the shop twice already! Try to talk to a toro can't. They don't answer calls and if you're lucky enough to get a recording it sends you to a local dealer. Our dealer has had the mower for 3 weeks already. They never call us and when we get a hold of them they tell us part is on order. Don't tell us what's wrong. First problem was under warranty but we had to pay $70. for pick up and delivery! Would never buy a toro thing again!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Almost makes lawn mowing fun (for now) I was skeptical about how much time this mower would save but it is noticeable. Maneuverability is great although it takes a little adjustment from my old lawn tractor. Now that I got the hang of it, things work well, and the only thing I broke was the plastic cover over the grass chute! The battery is so easy to get at and I love the wide fuel fill port and the opaque gas tank. One thing I wish I could do is pop off the cover of the fan since grass collects on it and gets inside.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not a bad mower Going into my second year with this mower, my biggest complaint is the tires go flat all the time. ALL of them, usually one at a time but they have all done it. Frustrating since now I have to keep the air compressor near. I even tried cleaning the beads one they were broken and flat and it it held air for a couple days, the next week flat again. My neighbor has the same mower but has steering wheel instead of levers and he mentioned to me his tires go flat all the time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Highly Recommended This is my first zero turn. I waited several years to get one and spent countless hours researching different brands and types. I decided on this one and man am I glad I did! The mower is flawless. I have several acres to cut and it does it in no time flat, has plenty of power and cuts beautifully. I cannot recommend this highly enough. Seriously great mower!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from excellent mower This Toro mower is awesome, nice even cut, great monueverability, the only downside is in how it pivots to turn. If your not careful, you will dig up the lawn makibg sharp or fast turns

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I have just used this once, but I do like it. It isn't too hard to use, I'm still getting used to... I have just used this once, but I do like it. It isn't too hard to use, I'm still getting used to it. Had a mishap or two because of the driver, me, is 64 years old and never driven one of these before. But I'm getting the hang of it!
