Answer:
Yes, this pump is submersible. The 70-GPH fountain pump that I bought at Home Depot was installed in my hanging fountain, which recycles the water from the reservoir at the bottom (where the pump is located). The pump is at the bottom of the reservoir and pushes the water back up to the top of the fountain.

Both my pumps are submerged in a bird bath fountain and a pond that supplies the action for the waterbell feature and both run continuously 24/7. They are only shut off for cleaning and maintenance of the pond, bird bath or the pumps themselves when gunk starts slowing down their performance. And being outside, they do get gunked up from time to time, I usually clean the items out and the gunk out of the pumps not more than once a month, sometimes every other month, just depending on how much rain we have or the number of birds bathing in the bird bath.

Answer:
Hello rick and thank you for your question.
Yes – the pump will properly work when fully submersed in fresh water between 41-86°F. You can adjust the fountain height with the flow control up to a maximum height of two and half feet.
For best operation, do not use in high pH or chlorinated water. Do not run dry. Remove and store the pump indoors before freezing weather.
Best wishes with your project.

Answer:
Yes. The pump has a three prong cord. I may be wrong, but I think that all outdoor pumps must have a three prong cord according to code. If you are looking for two, there are cheaters that you can buy

The ones I have just have a 2 prong cord, but they are older, the newer ones may have the grounded prong. However, my pumps are plugged into an grounded yerd power stake, which is plugged into an GFCI controlled outdoor grounded outlet.

Would attaching a detachable shower hose with an on/off sprayer to this pump, while it is submerged in a 5 gallon bucket of water, create a makeshift portable shower? Would the pump overheat while the shower was in the 'off' position?

Answer:
Our products has not been tested for any other purposes besides water gardening. However, you are welcome to try but we cannot guarantee it will work. If the shower is off while the pump is running the motor will be damaged for the back-flow, the water needs to circulate. If the water stays inside the hose that will cause back pressure and will cause the pump to stop working.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by 70 gpm fountain pump The 70 gym was to small. I returned to store without a hassle, received refund and purchased a 130 gym pump that was correct capacity. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not worth the money This is third pump I"ve bought in a calendar year. It lasted two weeks. The others lasted anywhere from months to weeks. I never let it run dry; I make sure there is no mold or algae in the tubes - I'm baffled. I have just given up on getting this fountain to work. June 21, 2016
