Customer Questions & Answers

Is every plank in the carton different?

I am in love with the Sawcut series but it is way out of our budget, so I am trying to decide between the Limed Oak and Barnwood. I just want to make sure that each piece in the cartons are different so that it will not look like a copy and paste. I can't really tell from the pictures of the Barnwood style. And which between the 2 would you recommend to look the most like the Sawcut style? thank you
Asked by: Melody
They are not all different. But done well I have barnwood. I love it. Here is a photo to help you decide.

Do I have to buy 2 whole cases when I need only 30 sq ft?

Asked by: Bill
Yes. They are only sold in cases as far as I am aware. You will need to cut pieces to create starters and to end each row, so you will most likely need more than 30 sq ft of flooring to get the job done.

Allure 6 in. x 36 in. Barnwood Luxury Vinyl Plank Flooring (24 sq. ft. / Case) is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 126.

The floor looks fantastic, but my back, knees, feet, and hands paid a price at the end of the day. This is very easy to lay down. I used a hand roller, then rented the 100 lb. job the next day to criss-cross the whole room. This went in my music studio, and doesn't really look like fake wood. My only complaint is that they need to package it better. I had several pieces where the corner was bent from poor packaging (not the shipper). Fortunately, I was able to cut them and use them on the ends.

( Not all at our house!) Needless to say, I'm very pleased with this product. The first room was a bathroom done 5 yrs. ago, and it still looks great! The Barnwood appeared darker in the available samples, but I was very happy with the variation of all the planks- creating a lighter appearance on the overall floor. We were trying to match existing hardwood floors and though not exact, it was pretty darned close. With regard to installation: a sharp utility knife, measuring tape, and right angle are really all that are required. Be patient starting out; your first 3 rows will take longer than the next 20.

I was able to complete finish my large kitchen in such a short period of time--and the finished product is so professional looking because the grip strips adhere so closely, and makes my floor actually look like 'barnwood'. Care and maintenance so far have been a breeze. I highly recommend this to 'do it yourselfers' as the cost, the ease of installation, and the quality are well worth the investment. I was NOT disappointed!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy, but you WILL mess up a bit---here are some tips.... tip one: when ordering product, make sure you also order a roll of the sticky strips. You will probably need them at least once. I also ordered the sticky planks, but havent had a use for them yet. But I'm not done--they are on line order only, so order them both right away so you aren't stuck with out them mid project (I was) tip two: you will mess up, no matter how careful you are. so pulling apart the planks goes MUCH better if you heat with a hairdryer and slide a spackling tool to separate the pieces. They will often rip off of the strip if you don't do this. You really cant re-use the plank if it rips off. I tried. Just replace it because you won't be happy with it. tip three: very important! Make sure you start your project on whatever wall will have the blue strip showing to take the next piece. If you are carrying it into additional rooms, you MUST start in the room at the farthest most point of your area, or you will be sorry. For example, I am flooring my entire lower level. From the living room, I go into a hallway and foyer, closet, bathroom and laundry room. The hallway, foyer and closet are to the left of my living room-from the left rear corner of the room, looking into the hallway. I began my project in the living room rather than the foyer, so I am now having to slide planks UNDER the one that's already there. I'm having to do this for about 20 feet long and 10 feet wide. It is a royal pain. SO, before placing your first plank, figure out which corner to begin so that every plank will have the blue edge showing for the next one, and make sure you take into consideration every room you will be covering and if you will be "traveling" from room to room, or if there is a break. tip four: It is very easy to cut a piece, but it will dull your blade quickly. I suggest using a heavy duty blade, rather than a regular box cutter. I switched from a generic knife to a Lenox Gold one, and I've only used one blade for the same amount of cuts as 4 blades on the other. tip five: While it is very easy, it will take longer than you expect. Take your time and do a good job on each piece. If something is not quite right, then fix it right then. dont wait because it will bother you, and it will be harder to fix later. tip six: if you need to stop working, save some of the paper in the box to put over your blue sticky strips do that they don't get dusty or hairy or dirty until the next time you work on it. I hope this helps your project go a little more smoothly than mine! What I've done so far looks great and I'm very happy with the outcome

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Over a year and still looks great! I loved this floor when I installed it last year. It was easy to do all by myself. Over a period of about a week I completed my entire first floor. It was great cause you could walk on it right away and it was easy to cut with a sharp utility knife and a pair of sheet metal scissors for more intricate shapes. Because I have radiators that I didn't want to move this was a lot more practical and easy to work with than laminate. I didn't want to write a review until I saw how it performed over time. Well, it's been a year - hot summer, muddy autumn, snow covered boots - it still looks as good as the day it was laid. Has stood up to kids and dogs. Love it!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So Far So Good Although I'm using this in an unauthorized (and warranty voiding) way, the flooring looks amazing and I'm very pleased with how easily it went in. I was able to do the entire Airstream in about 6 hours, including the cuts. Only time will tell if it will hold up. Unfortunately I ran a heavy box over it by the door and put a substantial scratch in it. I worry that future wear and tear might be an issue. However, I plan to use 2 rugs, so maybe it will all work out. I left a gap on the sides to allow for some movement. I installed it when it was 80+ degrees, so if anything it should only be shrinking. :) For the price point, I was willing to risk it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easiest Flooring Ever!!! This flooring is so easy to install I let my 12 year old daughter do it, and it looks great. She did nearly her entire room without my help. I just made the cuts for the end pieces for her, which was easy, since it's just a simple score with a utility knife and a bend, and it breaks off perfectly straight and smooth every time. I used this same product 8 years ago for my heavy traffic hallway areas. It's still looking as good as the day I installed it. Going to ditch the rest of my carpet and install this stuff wall to wall in my home. Easy to clean. Nothing to maintain. No worries about subfloor, since it doesn't attach to the subfloor. Just lays down and looks great for years!!!

Instalation was simple. But seams would pull apart even after rolling them. The adhesive strips were not sticky. Tried reheating them and still would not become sticky. This was literaly taking the plank out of the box, putting on the floor and still not sticking. Strips were perfectly clean. This product needs a little more engineering. Idea is great, just needs to go back to the drawing board.
