What's the color/pattern really like on the Sandstone Steel tile?

The tile in the single picture doesn't look like there is a huge color/pattern variation on it, but the picture of the kitchen floor looks very "piecey" with dark and light spots. Can anyone share a pic of what this really looks like once installed? Is the kitchen picture what should be expected?

Bathroom - Toilet I am also installing a new toilet. Should I install the flooring first, running the tile up to the toilet flange, then set the toilet? The alternative being to set the toilet on the underlayment and run the vinyl tile to the porcelain base.
Asked by: Brian
Thank you for your question. The flooring can be installed to the flange of the toilet while leaving the required expansion space around the flange and the bolts the toilet base goes into, then install the toilet. You do not need to use any underlayment, the only approved product would be a 6 mil poly moisture barrier over a concrete subfloor. If you have any further questions please contact our customer service dept 866-843-8453.

Product is very difficult to install, probably why they discontinued this model. Does not snap together easily. I still had trouble even after calling the manufacturer. I am a contractor and worked with many different types of flooring, this is the worst. The manufacturer even told me that people had trouble installing it, so they changed the way it snaps together. Wish I new that before I ordered it. The floor is now coming apart a little, so I have to keep kicking it back together.

The product itself appears sturdy and durable, however, my flooring installer that I hired had a very difficult time installing it. He hadn't worked with this particular style before. In the end, it cost me quite a bit more (he works hourly) to get the kitchen and front entry floors installed with this material. The problem was with the locking system. As others have commented, the material does not fit together very well and if your not making sure the tiles are perfectly aligned and snug against the walls, you are in for a big problem! I doubt I will use this material again for my rental properties.

It was discontinued, but I was never made aware of that. I needed a few additional pieces and after almost 2 months, neither the store, nor online customer service was able to obtain what I needed. The end result was that the manufacturer would not deal with Home Depot. I had to contact them and order directly from them. The product cost me twice as much and the shipping was ridiculous. What would have cost me $60.00 at Home Depot ended up costing me $200.00 from the manufacturer. Home Depot would not stand behind me or the fact that I originally purchased through them. They basically apologized and said, "Next time don't order from online, come into the store."

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product, stunningly beautiful. Replacing carpet on an uneven floor was a challenge with this product, it works best on a nice even flat surface, but with time I am confident it will settle into place and adapt to the "character" of our 100+ year old home. Installation will be easy for those with fairly flat even floors. More challenging if your floors and walls are uneven, angled, or sloped, but with patience and practice you can make it work almost anywhere. I suggest ordering one box abd playing around with it until you get the hang of making the tiles fit together flawlessly and securely.

The lip on the tile isn't large enough to form a solid locking system. If you have a large space to cover, such as ours, you will need to use tape to hold it together until you finish. It separates very easily even after instillation. Also, we already have two scratches in the tile from simple bar stools. It does, however, look amazing if you can struggle through everything else and the price is right.

I asked my husband after hearing him complain and cuss what do you want me to say in a review? Some of what he said I can't put on here. Basically its one big pain to get it together with out popping out. But once it finally is down it does look exactly like I had hoped. I don't know that its worth the struggle even though it looks nice once installed

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to install I was a bit concerned by some of the reviews stating this floor was difficult to install. I found it was extremely easy. This was my second click vinyl floor. The first one was 4" x 46" and you had to snap in the short side and then angle in the long side. This floor you snap in the long side, slide the short side next to one already laid and tap it down with a rubber mallet. Done.
