I only see the 6' tall fence kits advertised. Can I order 8' tall fence kits from Home Depot?

I also have a sloping yard and would like the top, level for the entire 80 feet for more privacy and bottom would thus slope downward. So I could start at 6' tall at one end to 8' at the other end.

Yes, 8’ Trex fencing can be special ordered at your local Home Depot store. See the Lumber Desk.

Yes, you can keep the top of your fence level and let the bottom slope with the yard, if the slope doesn't drop more than 24". You will need to buy longer pickets (the 91" bottom rail covers are the same profile as the pickets) since every picket after the very first one will need to be longer than a 67" picket (used for 6' tall fencing). Just like with a wood fence, you will need to mark and cut each picket down to allow them to fit in the angled bottom rail channel. Since the ends of the pickets won't be visible, there's no need to cut the pickets on a precise angle. They can be squared off so they stair step inside of the rails. Having said that, another way to do it is to lay all of the pickets out per section on a table, run a tape measure to draw a line and then use a saw to cut all of the pickets at the same time along the angled line. Again, it doesn't need to look perfect since the rail will hide the cuts. Run string lines on poles first to make sure to get all of the heights and lengths right. Then set the Trex fence posts (you will need to buy the 12' posts and cut them down as they move up the slope so the high end of the slope will work with a 6' tall fence). Then run string lines at the top and bottom to match the rails so you can start measuring off the lengths for the pickets. Once that's done, install the brackets and bottom rails, insert each picket in the correct order to follow the slope and finish off with the top rail. Doing any fence like this (Trex, wood, etc.) will take extra planning, measuring and cutting, but the results will look very nice. Let us know if you need additional detail. We are including a link to the Installation manual. http://www.trexfencing.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/Trex-Fence-Installation-Guide-New-Tips-Tricks1.pdf
We also have a diagram of a sloping fence where the top is level. It will not attach here but if you send an email to tmpd@trex.com, we will email you the diagram.

I am ordering the Trex seclusions 6ft high fencing for my property. I'm confused as to what post size to order. It says in the description that both the 9ft and 8ft are used with the 6ft high fence.

The true inner dimensions I had on the two Trex posts I ordered are 4" x 3 3/4".
To fit over my 4" square galvanized steel gate posts, I had to rip the Trex posts in half and skim the inside faces to get the 4" clear I needed for the steel posts. Then I glued the two halves over my steel posts and with the through bolt hinges, and gate panel in place, the final look is as good as I had hoped for. Read More

could I cut the top of the post off at an angle, put a hinge on it making it, so you can open the top up. I would like to use it to cover insulated water spickits, which are at different heights. Can I get more caps. That way the water pipe is insulated in the field and covered and when I want to use the hose bib I open it up. Could I use this product for that purpose.

Thanks for your question. The caps can be purchased separately. The installation that you are suggesting is not something we have tested for. Thanks, Gina Trex Customer Service.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.9 out of 5 by 10 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Expensive, but worth it for the long run I purchased these posts to replace an old wood fence. I decided to use the 9 foot length and not pour concrete to hold them in. I had to dig out another foot to fit them in, but they are holding up really well and look great. The fence is sturdy and best of all I won't have to do anything for probably 30 years. The fence ended up about twice the cost of wood, but not having to worry about the fence is worth it. August 2, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Fence Heavy. Not the same as the vinyl coated composite Trex. Close match though. Easy to assemble with two people August 16, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Well Made This product is surprisingly heavy considering it is hollow. We were thinking it would be used as a sleeve over a 4x4 to help protect the wood, but we may not use the wood at this point. It is very expensive, but if there is no further up keep and it is durable it will be worth the initial expense. This product was sold separately from the end cap when I purchased it, but now it appears they are sold together. Not sure if it is the same quality... July 29, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love our new fencr We love our new privacy fence. Home Depot made it so easy to order on line and pick it up at the nearest store. They will even text another party to let them know when it is in since we had someone else doing the work for us. August 25, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Trex seclusions Thes 4x4 post covers r made real nice. Thick n covers post good. A real good price compared to other stores. Would buy some more when needed. Thanks HD August 2, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great looking and easy to put together. I'm very happy with this product. This item arrived in good condition, had simple instruction and was easy to install. I might even get more. The color is just like it showed. Love it! June 2, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by worth the money Pricey product but appears to be worth it. Strong and stable. Wish there were more options for caps. Excellent hold for screws. May 24, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fantastic Fence! I replaced my rotting cedar fence with Trex Seclusions and am thrilled. My wife absolutely loves it. We considered a vinyl but didn't want a plastic-looking fence. Our new fence has a natural appearance that will look great with little to no maintenance for years and years! So long staining and repairing! This fence is pricey but well worth it! July 15, 2014
