Answer:
Buy a pack of name brand brand AA rechargeable batteries (4 for about $10). Replace battery in those lights not staying on as long. Old battery is likely not holding a full charge.

If a couple of your lights only last a couple hours at night it might be that they are getting some shade during the day where as the other two are obviously getting sunlight for most if not all day long. I have four that are spaced on the railing along my lower deck and ramp. I have one that works less than the others just because it doesn't get as much sunlight during the day. I plan to buy more of these post lamps for another ramp that I have running to the back of my yard. I suspect they will work differently than the others too as they get more afternoon shade. Answer:
Just pull out the tab of paper that is sticking out of the battery area, and if it won't come out open battery case and take out the paper, then make sure batteries are in correct position before closing the battery compartment back up.

I bought a dozen. Half work fine; the others don't light at night unless I take off the unit and turn it upside down. Then it lights. Any ideas?

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great lighting for my deck and handicap ramp These lights are very easy to assemble and emit a light of light till sunrise. Don't let the low price fool you. October 11, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love These This is one of the least expensive solar post caps they have and it actually puts out a lot of light, but you need to buy a roll of white duct tape and tape over the glass areas inside that facing away from the areas you want lighted and I also taped above the light and cut off any excess. I installed these as corner lights and the white tape inside is not even noticed.. It now puts out 2 to 3x more white glowing light.. Also I glueed clear pieces of cut plexiglass on top of each light and placed another piece under the light to keep water/bugs from sneaking in over time.. I will see how long these last..... Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by A good price I've had this solar lights for about 3 yrs now and they still work great. I will buy again when I finish my back decking. The only Cons. for this solar lights is that the cap locking is kinda weak but only on high winds they sometimes blow off. July 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by This post cap looks great and light lasts throughout the entire night. Like most solar post cap lights, it's not especially bright and you'll probably prefer to use several. Looks and works as well as other solar lights that cost ten or more times as much. October 26, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by works well. easy to install. nice looking. great value for the money October 25, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Dim Light These are easy to install and look great. At night the light is very dim and doesn't light the steps at all. If you're buying these for the light, get something else. September 22, 2016
