Answer:
There are post covers/ sleeves that goes over a PT 4x4.
You should use 5x5 sleeves if your railing will have angles other than 90 degrees otherwise there will be overhang. Make sure you have all materials on hand before starting project to ensure proper spacing between posts.
I ordered online and received delivery to home. Most stores did not have in stock.

I need to know 1. How wide the top rail is. 2. How far does the flange on the top rail extend down? 3. How long are the ballusters? 4. If I install the bottom rail on the porch floor can the top rail be placed at 36"? I am trying to find something to use for a screen porch.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Problems with fasteners for Veranda railing system I am a contractor in Indiana and recently built a 20' x 20' deck and complete railing system and stair rails for a customer. The screws supplied for the first order were square drive, filled with white paint and very soft metal. Even when pre-drilling all holes almost every screw stripped out. The second order came with #20 torx bit screws again torx receiver filled with paint and very poor quality soft metal screws. Even pre-drilling, using an extension on the drill to get the torx bit into the akward design of the lower bracket mounting again almost all screws stripped before getting them tightened. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by check you order Installed all of the rails and put the very last rail on and noticed the holes for the balusters were cut wrong. Talk about poor quality control. The self taping screws all have that square bit head that makes it almost impossible to put them all in, especially with the angles you have to use to install the screws. To make matters worse none of the screws can be used on a magnetic bit. Your best bet is just to by some self taping screw that can be magnetized. May 15, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Veranda pro rails The unit was difficult to install. Several of the side brackets and covers for stair rails came broken in the package. There were no gaskets for stair rails. There are gaskets for straight rails. There was only one block for a 6 foot rail . I needed 2 because I installed 2 three foot long straight rails. Need another block for under bottom rail, 4 side brackets with covers, and 14 gaskets for stair rails. I will not recommend this product till you make these things right May 10, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Railing Kit works great I installed Veranda Pro Rail around my entire patio and down my patio stairs. Normally the Pro Rail is used with the 5x5 post covers but I preferred the look of the smaller post and since all of my corners were 90 degree I could use the 4x4 post/cover. Everything worked as designed and the finished product looks wonderful. The install did take longer than I anticipated but we got faster as we gained experience. Remember this is a plastic/PVC product and all the screws go into plastic so you need to be careful not to over tighten (I also pre-drilled and ended up going through a couple of the square drive bits). Once everything is assembled the railing is very sturdy, some of my railings were just under the maximum length and even those feel sturdy. Since none of this product is stocked locally I was concerned that if I messed something up I would have to reorder and wait for it to arrive, by following the instructions (they were included) and being very careful everything worked fine. I did call Veranda with a couple of questions, once before I placed my order and once during installation, their support people were easy to reach and very knowledgeable about the product. Using this railing system was much less expensive than wrought iron, I believe it looks much better and it will never need painting, of course the big reason it was less expensive is my wife and I had to install it ourselves. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Size is NOT 6' Long These aren't 6' long as stated here. They're actually 67" - a full 5" shorter. Home Depot was good about taking them back and the quality of the "Pro" series rails is excellent, but if you need to span 6', these won't do it. September 5, 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Railing looks great and installs easily. Description needs to show actual length. I would have given it a higher rating if the actual lengths were correct. Why do you advertise a 6' or 8' rail when it's not the actual length? This has screwed up my project and delayed it's finish date. I got lucky with my 8' section and the 8' kit fit. I wasn't so lucky with my 6' sections. Now I have to buy 8" sections and waste material. I'm just hoping HD will exchange the 6' sections. One more thing, the Veranda supplier for the Buford Georgia HD took about 2 months to get their act together so my HD could even give me a price. Delivery time isn't great either. It took 3 weeks for my order to come in. July 1, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Update to previous review on railing Previously posted a damage occur when railing was subject to first snowfall. Very disappointed thinking railing was heavy duty and expected to hold up better. Since wriing review Barrett manufacturer warranty department reached out to me and discussed the problem. Afterwards they sent me a replacement bottom rail to replace in spring time. Thank you Barrett for standing behind your product. This is an example of fine customer service. January 24, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Feel Cheated I decided to put vinyl railings on our deck when we replaced the flooring and the railing because of age. I decided on putting 4x4 posts on so that the vinyl railing we decided on would be easy to install. I spaced them perfectly at 8ft and 6ft widths between them so that the railing would fit just right. Came home today with a car full of railings and post sleeves and began installing only to find out that the 8ft and 6ft labeled railing kits were actually 5 inches short. So now I get to take up my decking and move my posts so that they will fit. Not very happy. Still don't understand how they get that they are 8ft and 6ft railings when they are that much short. Be very careful and don't make the mistakes that I did. August 25, 2013
