To better answer this question to your particular kids, chances are there is a park nearby in which this material was used, take them for a "beta" test.

They use this rubber mulch for playgrounds so I think a 3-4 year old would have no problem.
A one year old may trip but since this mulch is rubber it would be better to fall on than wood mulch.

Kids should have no problem walking on it, as it is actually very 'cushy' to walk on. However, I would not recommend going barefoot on this; because in perhaps 75 bags or so that I have laid down the past two years, I did find a couple of steel 'splinters' which were part of the steel belts that comprise most all modern day tires.

No, they can even crawl, roll, lay down, play on it, some playgrounds even use it for safety reasons. playgrounds are a commercial application done only be landscapers. If children do put some in their mouths, they will not splinter.

Hello, I recently bought a number of bags of rubber mulch for my front garden as well as my side garden. After putting the mulch down a neighbour of mine informed me that rubber mulch is toxic once the sun heats it up in the summer and releases toxins in the air as well as the toxins in in the rubber mulch is not good for plants. Can someone please elaborate on wether this is true or not.

My plants are doing great. This mulch stays aerated and does not form a crust. Its made from used tires so if your car tires are releasing toxins then I guess it is possible this product might also. I am going to use this product on the rest of my plant gardens. I would not use it on vegetable gardens.

I have used this very successfully around established trees and shrubs. As a lifetime gardener, I would not recommend it for vegetable or rose gardens. Rose gardens need organic mulch, such as pine needles which benefit the plant's growth, along with occasional banana peels. Vegetable gardens should not be mulched, as many kinds of insects love to nest in it.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Filler for Sandbag For those looking to make a weighted "sandbag" for working out, this filler works perfectly. Each bag weighs right at 20lbs and three to four bags will fill a seabag (duffle for all you non-maritime types) for a 60-80lb sack. Five sacks (100lbs) would probably be pushing a seabag's capacity, so you might need to substitute a denser material for last 20lbs in a 100lb bag. Otherwise, the material has enough volume to comfortably fill out the bag while providing an ideal workout weight. Very happy with the results! August 24, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Cedar Red Rubber Mulch Love the durability, softness and color of the Rubber Mulch. Soft enough to walk on but sturdy enough to keep in place. I decided to go with the rubber due to placing it around my pond. I am absolutely happy with my decision and purchase. So happy I added it along the whole side of my patio :) August 24, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Maybe just coincidence, but......... some of my plants that haven't bloomed in years did so this year. I believe it may be due, in large part, to the Vigoro rubber mulch I am now using. It holds moisture in beautifully and doesn't promote insect activity like wood mulch. It is also long-lasting so no need to replace it as you would with regular mulch. The Vigoro red mulch keeps its color and gives a finished look to your gardens. Could be a little less expensive but I definitely recommend this product! September 6, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love this product This product doesn't blow away, which was what I needed. I put it around my little pond because regular mulch always blew into the water. This is the only mulch I will ever buy. May 10, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by The type of mulch to buy This is my second purchase of this product and I brought it again because I was/am very happy with the results from my first purchase. The color retention is good even after a year and it seems to do a better job at blocking weeds than wood mulch. September 6, 2016
