Answer:
It is designed to spray wall/ceiling texture. Even when the texture is mixed to a thin consistency the compound still sprays lumpy and inconsistent. Paint would be similar in fashion.

I used this to do four rooms (about 400 sq. ft.). It can do popsorn, knockdown (you'll need the knockdown tool, separely), or orange peel. I did a light orange peel. It has a table to aid in doing each. To control it there are three nozzles, instructions on amount of thinning (estimates), and how much trigger depress.

This is only a texture sprayer. You'd need a spray gun (Wagner makes one as well) to spray paint.

Can the sprayer be used for a paint that has an aggregate added for texture?

I am trying to find a paint sprayer that I can spray a paint that has an added aggregate to texture the paint but not adding too much thickness as with the textured materials. Basically I wish to use an off the shelf enamel paint and then add an aggregate for texture and spray them onto my substrate. Can anyone help me find what I am looking for?

Answer:
No, the air pressure is far too low and would not spread evenly. Even with the smaller tip it would still be to large and cause lumps in the paint.

Answer:
The Power Tex is meant for use with aggregated materials such as simulated acoustic (“popcorn”) and unaggregated materials such as diluted joint compound for knockdown and orange peel. The application you are describing sounds like something that should be done with a contractor machine. For advice on which one might work, please call 1-800-292-4637.

Answer:
If you are planning on using this to spay stucco material out of this tool, I would not recommend it. The flow control mechanism is a rubberized flow control valve. The stucco material would be too rough and damage or prematurely wear the flow control valve. I would stick with what the tool description recommends; basic indoor wall texture material including some acoustics.

Answer:
We would not recommend the Wagner Texture Sprayer to be used to spray stucco. A larger contractor grade machine would be more appropriate.

Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 82 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Time saver Saved me lots of time, finished a six hour job in 2 hours including cleanup . Not going to lie I read lots of reviews on this before buying. After spraying the texture I let it dry for about 30 mins then used a knock down knife to make it look flat and smooth July 26, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Don't bother... The blower is just not strong enough to spray the texture, as a result, you have to make the texture too light and fill the walls with burn and dripping spots... it's a mess. and forget about texturing ceilings, it has no power for that. and get ready to spend double amount of texture for a very poor job... Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by STOP! DON'T BE FOOLED IT'S JUNK! I write this as one very disappointed individual. While not a professional, I have textured many a wall in the past. I truly wanted this thing to work. I was hoping that it would like several other reviewers before me. If you want a nice fine orange peel texture, you can absolutely forget this thing! At first I started with a "sour cream" consistency, and kept having to dump it out and mix and thin with water. I got my mix to a paint like consistency and kept trying and trying. I did have the black fitting on as well. The only thing this would do is splatter. After several tests on cardboard, I tried it on the wall. Needless to say, it simply didn't work and I not will sand it off. I will try to return or just throw away. THIS IS MY 3RD AND LAST WAGNER PURCHASE I WILL EVER MAKE!!!!!!!!!!!! EVERYTHING, I MEAN EVERYTHING I HAVE EVER PURCHASED THAT HAS BEEN WAGNER HAS DISAPPOINTED ME. I will now go buy a good texture hopper like I should have done in the first place. July 13, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Used to do some big patches on ceiling. Worked great and easy to use July 12, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Not the best Completely ineffective for ceiling work, not enough air flow, most product ends up on floor. Very messy. works ok on small wall projects. May 10, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Really needed this product This texture sprayer is a great time saver. Have been removing popcorn ceilings in my home and have done most of the texturing with a texture type roller. This sprayer provides a more uniform type of texture. The orange peel is a little difficult to get a consistent pattern because the joint compound needs to be very thin to use the fine tip. It doesn't have sufficient air pressure and seems to only work with spurts, instead of a constant flow of material. This bursts gave me some larger "clumps" that I knocked down to avoid the higher spots. Overall, I am still pleased with the results. March 15, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Save money do the job right I had to build a closet in a over garage extra space in order for it to be considered a bedroom. The room was finished with a knockdown finish. I had tried the cans before with inadequate success so I decided to try the Tex sprayer. I am glad I did. People cannot believe that the closet was not built with the house and I finished it with ease. If you have to do a lot of re-patching then this is the way to go. March 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Made a lot of $$$ Bought this for one small patch job. Ended up using it for a long time on many jobs. Made a lot of $$$$$ with this gun and it never let me down. Be sure you clean it before the texture dries. Otherwise it's difficult to take part and clean. February 24, 2016
