8 in. Tape Knife is rated 3.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor Quality of the Blade This looked well built with the shiny blue steel blade and a good price. Caution: there is a very thin transparent coating on the blade which begins peeling in the mud and WITHIN the hour, the blade develops several rust spots. Waste of money and effort on the job.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Tape Knife for multiple uses I originally purchased this tape knife for a use outside it's normal intent. My first use of the tape knife was to help level and join a 3 piece slate pool table. The slate was to be held together with beeswax, then scraped level to the slate making the union as close to unnoticeable as possible. I mention this because the knife naturally got small pieces of wax stuck around the edges as i slid across the table top. I then heated the knife directly, with the same heat gun used to melt the beeswax (capable of 1000 degrees). I watched the specs of wax slide right off the knife leaving it as clean as i took it out of the store. I mention this because the second review mentions the knife having a layer of plastic. I did no notice plastic at any time using the knife, nor do i think it would of survived the heat directed from the heat gun if it did have plastic. I look forward to future smoothing with this tool.
