Got it because easy wipe-on application made it great for doing windows that carpenter already installed. Made a custom stain color to match old existing woodwork by mixing two different colors, which worked nicely. Liked it so much ended up using it on doors and associated trim we put in as well. Looks great, woodwork cleans up easily once cured, and any scuffs/scratches can easily be repaired with light sanding and another wipe of the oil. Only downside is if you want to topcoat with poly for items subject to more abuse, have to wait 72 hrs after last application of the oil.

This stuff is very simple to apply and dries to a usable surface very quickly. I usually avoid staining wood as it is hard to get consistent results. Watco with stain added seems to be almost foolproof. You can easily control the level of stain by how many coats you apply. The resulting finish seems to be waterproof, but the wood is not coated like it would be with poly. I intend to wait for the Watco to fully cure (the can says 72 hours) and then apply several coats of wiping poly to get a hard durable finish (this is far a game table).

Just wish they had a smaller size option. I won't use the volume and it will have to go to hazardous waste treatment since it can't be discarded in the garbage. It is a good product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good, but Applied this to an unfinished Beechwood desk from Ikea. Product goes on easy enough and looks very good. You just overload the surface with the liquid, let dry and wipe off excess. Does not completely dry in 2 day time frame per instructions. In fact, it wasnt completely dry after two weeks. Small amounts of the oil would coat my hands. Finally, I took a cloth with a small amount of mineral spirits and rubbed the finish again. This mostly worked as it is finally completely dry and the smell is mostly gone. Make sure you rub off as much oil as possible after applying!

This isn't as shiny as regular stain + polyurethane, but it was ridiculously easy to apply. I'm only giving it three stars because it was much, much redder than the picture -- almost pink. I'd interested in trying other Danish oils from Watco, but I wouldn't use this one again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great stuff I prefer oil finishes over just about any other. I have used Danish oil for years. Develops a nice sheen when it polymerizes.
