Product Overview

This Whynter Dual Zone Portable Fridge / Freezer offers premium quality and innovative design to your frozen/ refrigerated needs. With two separately controlled temperature zones, you can set either zone as a freezer and the other as a refrigerator or at any temperature for your specific requirements. All you need is either a standard household 110-Volt outlet or a 12-Volt power source, like an automotive battery. 2 cu. ft. 62 Qt. Dual Zone Portable Freezer in Gray is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 17.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from works great It's holding up just fine on the top bunk going down the road. I keep it plugged into the converter with the DC plugged in as a backup when making coffee. It keeps my ice cream frozen and the rest of the food cold unlike the refrigerator installed on the truck.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Two weeks in and good Picked up the unit about two weeks ago, dropped it into my small truck camper and have been running on solar and land lines solid since then. Seems to work well. I think it could use some additional insulation to make it more efficient but if does a nice job. Especially like the fact that the two compartments can be run at separate temps and that it drops strait to AC when you plug into the land line. If the compressor lasts it's a steal compared to Engels. I have been told that there is really only one compressor manufacturer for all of these types of coolers but no idea if it is true. Great not to have melting ice to deal with any longer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does what is advertised. Great! This machine works great. Dual compartments are super handy. I keep mine at 9 and 39 degrees. I also bought the infrared-reflector lined cover, which came in the advertised grey color and is put together quite well. If you use an extension cord for the 12VDC outlet in your car or RV, be sure it's heavy duty. A lightweight extension will show enough voltage on the cooler's display, but may not support the initial surge current that the compressor requires to start up. This has happened in my Honda CR-V, which has a convenient rear 12V outlet, but the wiring that feeds it is not heavy gauge. Solution? Use a heavier extension, or start the car to boost voltage to the fridge, or fire up the fridge on AC power. My experience is that once the unit has cooled down, it's perfectly happy running off a battery, even with the lightweight wiring in the CR-V. For car camping, this unit is excellent. Yes, an Engel is even more energy efficient, but as always, you pay... To me, this unit occupies a sweet spot in the marketplace. Does what people need, affordable (compared to RV refrigerators) and noticeably less to buy than the Swiss unit. As others have said, hold onto your packaging, even if it means breaking down the boxes and hiding it all somewhere. Whynter pays freight both ways for 60 days if anything fails, and after that, you don't want to pay a crating charge if you have to ship it. Mine is working flawlessly after a few weeks, so hopefully I won't have to ship it - ever.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good product Real power miser on either DC or AC will use under 30 watts an hour after it has been up and running awhile even less like say overnight on "eco" mode. All depends on the temps set on both sides and conditions used in. It will come to the set temps fast ! usually way under an hour at room temps and more or less quietly, cycles on and off after coming to set temps and a small fan runs cooling the compressor then . Negatives ? DC cord provided is of a cheaper quality but easily changed out and the unit is pretty heavy, not a concern for me as I have it in place at an off grid cabin and wired directly to my solar battery bank. But for what t's worth it isn't any heavier then my cooler with 50lbs or more of always melting ice was! .So far it has been great and at half the price of others out there and HD has one of the best prices on it when on sale..

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great so far I've only had it for a few weeks, but so far it is just what I needed. I use it in our 5th wheel for extra fridge and freezer space. It holds the temperature very well and seems to use very little battery while in DC mode.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very good product The D.C power cord is only 4' long. makes it difficult to power in a pickup truck unless you run additional wiring from the battery to the back of the truck with the DC adapter.
