Answer:
I don't detect any sand or grit in this compound. It feels soft and damp to the touch. It doesn't leave any grits behind when you sweep with it, so I doubt very much that there is sand in it. There's no way it would scratch a surface as far as I can tell.

Answer:
No. This is for keeping down dust when sweeping, not for soaking up oil spots. Use clay cat litter to soak up oil spots from the garage or shop floor. Then scrub with strong detergent if you want.

Hi Sherman, this is a sweeping compound. You would want an absorbent type product for oil spots or spills.
Take a look at this instant spill absorber, Home Depot internet number 202751081. This product is made for oil spills or spots.

Answer:
I have not tried it, but I would be afraid that the compound would get stuck in any little pores in the cork, creating a mess that would be hard to deal with. Take care.

Sure. That's the point of using sweeping compound. It grabs onto the dust so that you can sweep without getting the dust everywhere.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great product at a fantastic price. We purchased this product for our semi finished concrete floors at work. Every one is pleased with this product. September 6, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best Chioce for Dust Control Consistent and the best value. We use on all our projects to manage dust and it doesn't leave a film on the slab. This makes for an easier time sealing or staining. We also use it on any composite, sheet, and tiled flooring. Does not compromise existing waxed surfaces or unsealed grout joints. August 28, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Effective, without stink Keeps down the dust when sweeping a concrete floor, as one would expect. Did not leave a stain, or emit obnoxious odors, as some products I have used in the past have done. Comes in a plastic bag that will presumably hold in the necessary built-in moisture in the unused material, if one seals up the bag after use. (The bag does not self-seal, so be prepared.) Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by best purchase I don't like to write but product is great. Picked up all glue residue cleanly. January 5, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by As good as I had hoped After wasting 1-1/2 days trying to sweep up and contain fine dirt from a huge concrete floor, I went to Home Depot online and ordered this sweeping compound. I was able to pick it up at my local store a very short time later. I went through a lot of product the first time I used it but this floor had not been swept in years and never with sweeping compound, so no big surprise there. I was a little concerned that it would leave the floor oily and slick but that did not happen and I was able to get the floor swept free of dirt and dust is a very short time. It left the floor very clean and I could not be happier with this product. June 23, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Has a couple different uses Worked good on the floor like others have mentioned, but I also needed to get rid of some old paint. The refuge company won't take pain unless it's dried, so I added some of this and set it in the sun for a few hours. Dried like a rock. I also never noticed any smells like another review mentioned, but some senses are better on some than others. It's like a reddish sawdust, but it reminds me a lot like that fake bacon you find at the all you can eat buffet. I always wondered what they did with that stuff after they threw it out.
