A: Hi Brij,
Thanks for writing in with your question. The Basement and Masonry Waterproofer is a water-based coating and does not have a strong odor. However, we recommend having good cross ventilation when using the product.
Have a great day!

Giovanna

A: There is an odor and you should ventilate the area when you paint. I open a window or a door and use a large fan to circulate the air.

Q:My basement is not ventilated, but it is very large (1400 square feet). All walls need to be painted. How significant are the paint fumes? Thanks!

Answer This Question
A: Hi Jack,
Thanks for your interest in our products! The Dry Plus would be similar to our other paints as far as fumes go. If you'd like, you can try applying it to a small area and see how strong it is. since your basement doesn't have ventilation, you may need to allow it more time to cure. If you'd like additional info, feel free to take a look at the Safety Data Sheet for this product:

Q:How much does 1 gallon cover including 2 coats?
Another commenter asked how much a gallon covers and Behr answered that 1 gallon covers 450 sqft but the listing says "Coverage area: rough 75-100 sq. ft., smooth 100-125 sq. ft., 2 coats minimum are required".
I'm also confused as to whether the coverage numbers account for the fact that you need 2 coats. For example, if 1 gallon covers 100 sqft, then will I need to buy 2 gallons to cover 100 sqft so that I can apply 2 coats?

A: Hello Aryadne,
Thanks for writing in. Yes, that’s right, the Behr Dry Plus covers 75-100 sq. ft. for a rough surface and 100-125 sq. ft. for a smooth surface. For two coats, it would double to 150-200 sq. ft. for rough and 200-250 sq. ft. for smooth. So for example a 100 sq. ft. surface would need two gallons for two coats for a rough surface. For further assistance, please feel free to reach out directly to our customer care team. We’d love to help! Best, Roxana N.

A: Hello Andrrw, thank you for your question. Our Masonry Waterproofing Paint is intended to be used on masonry and concrete-like surfaces. We wouldn't recommend using it on drywall or for your bathroom application. We'd suggest checking with your local store for a more suitable vapor barrier paint to use on your drywall and regular bathroom walls. Have a terrific Tuesday, and best of luck with your project! -Joanna

A: Hi Jimasimae,
Thanks for your questions! Our Dry Plus Masonry Waterproofer will come to a complete cure after at least 7 days of dry time. Because we don't make glue or adhesive, It's best to reach out to the company that makes the glue you'd like to use to ensure that their product can be applied over a water-based coating and how long the coating would need to dry before it will adhere. Best wishes for your project! - Sara
