Answer This Question
A: We bought this tool for just this purpose. It takes lots of scraping, but it works. You'll obviously have to clean the glue off of the end a lot.

A: Short answer, yes. but be careful. It is fairly heavy and i would be afraid of gouging. The longer handle will give you more leverage than a hand held. You didn't specify but i am assuming you have a fiberglass hull. While fiberglass / sealer repairs are common if you are wanting to avoid them, I would cut the handle down. The blade itself is heavy and can take way more abuse than barnacles. I have abused mine several times and it is still almost like new.

A: Yes. There isn't a sharp blade at the end of this floor scraper. It's a thick metal edge. We have used it to break up floor tiles, chop through thin to medium tree roots for trenching and scrape paint splatter on concrete. I don't see why it wouldn't work well to remove barnacles from a boat hull.

A: No.. I wouldn't recommend it for that purpose. The blade isn't that thin for that purpose. If you were removing the Hardwood floors, it would be perfect.
by|Feb 5, 2019
A: It will take off most of the paint but isn't as "sharp" as a putty/stripping knife or just hand scraper. Getting the right angle would be tough too.
by|May 6, 2023
A: i would not use this on a wood floor application as it might damage the hardwood. A more precise tool would be appropriate for that purpose like a 3" or 4" putty knife
by|Feb 5, 2019
A: not an appropriate application

A: Yes it can just make sure you are not putting to much pressure on areas where it is not coming out fast assess the problem and use tools accordingly

A: carpet staples tend to fold over flush with floor and hardwood can be damaged with this tool. I would avoid using on a hardwood floor where the intent is to save the hardwood
by|Feb 5, 2019
A: Well, it's just semi sharp blade. It depends what you want to cover the floor with after padding is off. If carpet, just hammer them all down, and new padding will cover. It hardwood, same thing. If thin laminate, then I would just take them out by hand. This tool might cut the staples and then more work. It's a simple scraper for glue, grout, not for nails. I used it to take old glue from linoleum floor before we laid ceramic tiles. good luck

Answer This Question
A: No, it will damage the floor and probably break staple heads off, making them harder to remove later. Unfortunately, there’s really no other way than using pliers.
by|May 6, 2023
A: Yes that is what it was made for.
by|May 6, 2023
A: We have removed many black mastic applied tiled floors with this. However it does not remove the mastic.
