A: 15 inch plus pot. 48 inch’s tall
A: I have this palm and when I first received it the palm arrived in a one gallon 10 inch growers pot. It was not root bound or necessarily needing to be transplanted at that time; but growers pots are not that attractive. So knowing that it would eventually grow ( Majesty Palms are not necessarily fast growers) I purchased a pot that was 3 inches larger than the growers pot. That means, if I were to put the growers pot down into the new pot I would have a 3 inch space from the growers pot to the new pot all the way around. The new pot was also 5 inches deeper than the growers pot. If and when you transplant your Majesty Palm don't just use dirt from your yard or just plain soil, it won't work and you'll end up killing your palm. Use a good grade of potting soil, and don't pack it down. Place some stones in the bottom of the new pot (a piece of weed barrier cloth over the stones works great to help keep the soil from leaching down into the stones) add enough potting soil to the pot so when you set the palm down into the new pot (it's still in the growers pot).the top of the soil around your palm to be between 1 and 1 1/2 from the top of the new pot. That determined, remove the palm from the growers pot. Check the condition of the outside of the soil. If you can clearly see roots showing around the outside surface gently agitate the dirt around them so those roots have a better chance of getting into the new soil you are placing them into. Set the palm down into the middle of it's new pot. Make sure you have it standing upright. Then gently fill in the space all around the plant with potting soil. Make sure it is completely filled in with no air pockets. But don't feel like you have to pack it. Palms don't like that. Water thoroughly but make sure you don't leave your palm sitting in water. It doesn't like that. Don't water again until the top inch or so of the soil is dried out. Remember, a good potting soil will hold moister longer. Mist it regularly, and you will always have green palm leaves. The major problem with palms turning brown on the ends is usually because there is not enough moisture in the air. Majesty Palms like bright to medium light. Not direct sun. Remember it is a jungle plant. Palms will not do well in low light for extended periods, your palms will start turning yellow. Being a long time gardener I hope this has helped.
A: Hi PalmTreeLove! We recommend using the next size container when repotting. for this Majesty Palm we would recommend using a 12 inch diameter container with a drainage hole. Majesty palms can grow 10 to 12 feet tall. We hope this helps!
A: After a year they are about 4 ft tall, should grow to 6 - 8 ft
A: Majesty Palms can grow from 4 to 6 feet. It depends a lot on the conditions it is grown in. Good potting soil, regular misting, good light (not direct sunlight) regular fertilizing with a general purpose houseplant fertilizer, good watering habits; will all have a positive effect on it's growth.
A: Hi Roopali! The Majesty palm can grow up to 10-12 feet indoors with proper care. We hope this helps!
A: No, direct sunlight is not ok for this plant. It is a jungle plant native to Madagascar. It requires medium to bright indirect light. Direct sun will kill this palm. And even though it will live in low light, low light will eventually over a period of time kill the plant. I hope this has helped.
A: Hi Anna! If the palm tree is acclimated slowly over time, the Majesty palm could tolerate some direct sunlight. Introduce it slowly to direct sun, only letting it stay in the light for a couple hours. After week, increase the amount of time in the sun. Continue this until it is in the location you wish. We hope this helps!
A: The Majesty Palm is not reported as a "Deer Resistant Plant." That said, let me also say deer are inquisitive. They are inquisitive by nature, and if you live in an area where maybe drought has parched everything and you have an open yard with a lovely green palm; you just might one day look outside to see a deer or two nibbling on your lovely green palm. Lets face it, if a deer is hungry enough there is no telling what it might try to eat. If it is a big concern, there are numerous sprays that are safe for plants that will ward off nibbling deer. Hope that helped.
A: Hi Augustina! We apologize for the late response! Outdoor palms are considered deer and rabbit resistant. We hope this helps!
A: Yes , just make sure you water it well.
A: Hi Marko! Our Majesty palms are grown in the shade so they're not stressed when you buy one as a houseplant. They're not adapted to the sun -- so if you want to enjoy your majesty palm outdoors in a sunny spot, such as on a patio, your best bet is to acclimate it first. You can do this keeping your majesty palm in a partially shaded spot for a week or so, then expose it to a little more sun. (Or, alternatively, keep your majesty palm indoors for a couple of weeks, but let it spend a couple of hours outside each day. Increase the outside time each day until you no longer bring it in.) If you want to bring a majesty palm indoors for winter after a summer outside, give it good care by doing the transition in reverse to help it become adapted to low light inside. We hope this helps!
A: Hi . . . I bought mine as a houseplant but I had looked up the possibility of outdoors and found this from Costa Farms: " Majesty palm can also be used outdoors on shaded decks, patios, and balconies. as a summer tropical. However, because we grow majesty palms in low-light conditions to ensure they thrive as houseplants, they shouldn't be placed outdoors in hot, sunny situations." I'm in Portland Oregon and the plant is thriving - I've been a bit scared to put outdoors as we have crazy weather in Portland one day 40° the next 90° some days.
A: Yes, the tree can be potted outdoors.
A: No I cannot pot this palm outside. The winters here are to cold for them to live.
A: Hi Plantlady! We recommend keeping the Majesty Palm in a container and placing it out doors for the summer. Once the weather begins to cool, it is best to bring the plants indoors for the winter. We hope this helps!
A: Majesty soil should be moist at all times but not soggy. Mine is on a patio in Florida. If tips get Brown it probably needs more water. They are safe for dogs and cats. I read that they need plant food every couple of weeks and bright indirect light.
A: Hi Cathy! According to the ASPCA the Majesty palm is non-toxic to cats. We recommend watering your plant once every 7 to 10 days. Water enough that water begins to drain from the drainage holes. Always let the excess water drain thoroughly. We hope this helps!
A: I'm waiting for an answer
A: Hi Marko! You can keep the plant in its current container for a little while. You could also choose to re-pot the plant with fresh soil into a container that is 10 to 12 inches in diameter. We hope this helps!
A: I planted mine right into new soil. Make sure to water it after planting it.
A: Hi Maudc! We apologize for the late response! When repotting plants we recommend using a container that is 2 inches larger in diameter than the original container. For this Majesty Palm we would recommend using a 12 inch diameter container.
A: Your palm will most likely arrive in a one gallon 10 inch growers pot. Purchase a pot that is at least 3 inches all around larger than what it is in. That will keep you from having to replant anytime soon. P.S. Don't use just plain soil or yard dirt to replant. Use a good potting soil. These palms are a native jungle plant from Madagascar and use to loose loamy soil. Remember, don't over water, and mist your palm regularly. .
A: Yes but not in full sun or it will not survive. shady corner that get a little sun .Cheers
A: No, they will die in winter if you plant outside.
A: Yes, as long as you give it rich soil and water it daily .... it should be fine ! I would double check what plant zone you are in... and what zone is best for this plant ... just using google plant zone , and enter your zip code . Then , do the same thing and just write the name of the plant you would like to plant .this ones says it zone 10-11 .. Florida can vary from 8-11 to make sure you verify using your zip code . As long as it falls within the range of your zip code ... it should work .
A: Hi CJ! Majesty palm can be used outdoors on shaded decks, patios, and balconies. as a summer tropical. However, because we grow majesty palms in low-light conditions to ensure they thrive as houseplants, they shouldn't be placed outdoors in hot, sunny situations. We hope this helps!
A: I've kept mine in a pot outside. It only gets partial (morning) sun and watered once a week and has been doing well. I've had it a few years that way.
A: I have a Majestic palm planted outside for over a year and it is almost 5’ Tall and doing real well
A: I’m in Virginia and my plant died. Being in a more humid climate might be better!
