Q:Is this good for putting on makeup? OR, does it have a weird (but nice) lighting effect as a result of the bubble glass and the decorative wire on the bottom? I want it to look nice but also be functional. Looks like it would be perfect for our shore home. Thanks.

A: This light is in our guest bathroom so I've only used it a couple of times but never noticed any problems with the light, weird shadows or anything. Our teenage granddaughters use it quite often and never complained about trouble applying their makeup and, let's face it, teenage girls would be the first to complain about anything!

A: The seedy glass should not affect the light. If you want the fixture to provide a lot of light I would recommend using 100 watt bulbs.

A: We are happy with the vintage bulbs we bought at Home Depot @ $9.99 each. They are not real powerful lights, but the look is good.

A: You can put up to 100 watt bulbs. I would think as long as the bulbs have the same screw type as a regular bulb it should be okay.

A: Hi! The metal is definitely gray with no brown in it. However, I do notice that a warmer lightbulb (i.e. more yellow than white) can give it the illusion of having a little brown in it. I did that with mine and it looks great with reclaimed wood mirror. Hope this helps!
