A: I wouldn't recommend for outdoor use, they're drywall screws, may hold up for a couple years but probably start rusting through after that. Unless you live in the desert than they may hold up.

A: Home depot has become a massive company, they have the purchase power to buy in bulk, some factory's only manufacture product for home depot.
With that purchase power comes lower prices due to mass production.

A: I really can’t give you a honest answer except like anything else when you buy an item there are always your bargain prices so it’s hit and miss on the quality I used the drywall screw in question and they worked fine. I would not hesitate to recommend these for your drywall projects.

A: GM Amateur -- a couple of reasons; 1) HD buys in bulk, which will help with their cost savings and HD passes these lower cost savings to their customers, and 2) a lot of the smaller stores will buy just a few boxes and restock their shelves. Many do not carry stock behind the counter.

Q:What substance does this have that results in a Prop 65 warning (cancer/reproductive harm, etc.)? Does that only apply to ingestion, or does one get exposed to those substances just by living in a room where these are installed?

Answer This Question
A: Working for a medical device manufacturer that uses none of the Prop 65 substances in our devices... we still put a link to the Prop 65 warning on our website, just to help prevent against opportunistic attorneys / law firms who may file suit just because we didn't show the warning. I've worked in the pharma / medical device industry for over 35 years, and Prop 65 is the most ridiculous thing to come along. I'm guessing GripRite / Home Depot show that warning for the same reason.

A: I do not know, lets see if the manufacture will reply to your question. If used as a dry wall application the screw will be covered with joint compound and not exposed to the environment.
California Prop 65 has over 600 items on the list and each year they add more.
Good luck

A: I truly have no idea about the Prop 65 issue. I have used these many times, handled them, kept them in the room/area I was working in for years now. No problems. Better to ask the manufacturer this question if you are still concerned.

Q:approximately how many inch and 5/8 screws are in a 25 lb box
by|Mar 7, 2019

Answer This Question
A: More than enough for a "small" drywall job -hundreds+. I don't know that a more exact answer would help depending upon what you are using them for -example: depending upon details, a remodeling project will require more screws than new construction. There is a big price advantage to purchasing the screws in larger packaging. If you are doing a very large drywall job or anticipate more, I recommend purchasing them by the 20lb box.

Q:Which is best for ceiling drywall, this #6 or a different #8? Both come in 1 1/4 length, so which grade # is best for the application?
by|Feb 27, 2019

Answer This Question
A: I prefer the #8s to #6s, since there's more to grab into beneath the drywall, whether they are wooden studs or metal ones.
by|Oct 10, 2022
1 found this answer helpful
A: Common lengths range from 1 1/8-inch to 4-inch for a majority of building work, with #6 (0.1380-inch) and #8 (0.1640-inch) being the most common gauges.
#8 can hold more weight.

A: #6
by|Oct 10, 2022
1 found this answer helpful
A: I've used #6 on both walls and ceilings to mount drywalls, and had no issue of drywall popping from the ceiling. So I would recommend #6. Another benefit is that #6 would be easier to screw in vs #8. This is assuming you are installing 1/2 drywalls. If you are installing thicker drywalls on ceilings, you may want to use #8.
