Q:Among other things, I need an air compressor for blowing off my dirtbikes after washing. Is the 2.6 gal too small for this use? My porter cable barely keeps up but the CFM is lower on it. Also, will it run a framing

Answer This Question

A:  I bought this specially for detailing my truck and use it with a fine tip air nozzle. Despite being a little heavy the recovery rate is phenomenal and it runs quietly. It keeps up just fine.

A:  Not sure so great for blowing things off unless you have a small tip, otherwise it’s a great compressor and keeps up on all air tools and is not loud

A:  I have used this compressor to blow out water lines and it did the job. I have not used it to frame yet, but I plan on doing that this summer. It worked well with a finish nailer though.

A:  Framing shouldn't be an issue for any DIY projects. If you are looking to blow dry the dirt bikes i don't think it would be the best option. I love mine, used it for just about every normal use except painting.

A:  I purchased mine to use with my framing nail gun and it works great. As for blowing off your dirt bike I can't help you there. I'm guessing it would work however you might have to use shorter bursts. I was pleasantly surprised as to how quiet it was. I also have a larger Craftsman compressor and usually have to leave the room when I first fills up. I also have a dirt bike and never thought of trying it to dry it off. I usually let it run for a few minutes.

A:  it would do that some better than my old porter cable because it recovers some faster, but you would still have to stop & wait for it to air back up. it is above average for a small compressor, but still a small compressor & will be more than a porter, but not as much air as a larger shop compressor. & it is excellant with air guns: quiet, hardly runs, although it needs to regulate to 105 psi for me; it will only do 100 or less

A:  I have this Makita air compressor. I use it to fill up My moto cross bike tires, Four wheeler tires, Silverado tires and I use it to blow the water out of My sprinkler system zones. I never used the Makita compressor for framing. I have a bigger air compressor in our pole barn, to run impact guns and other things.

                  Answer This Question

A:  Not easily, I would use a dolly myself to move it around if I found it to be too heavy. If you mounted wheels, it would walk all over the place when running, and possibly tip over.

                  by|May 4, 2023

A:  yes maam. you probably would have to drill the mounting holes out. the only problem is that it may be top heavy & turn over easy. i reccommend using a dolley. make sure your dolley is as wide as the rubber feet.

                  by|May 5, 2023

A:  You can mount this to a hand truck dolly and fab a holder for the air home making it easy to make around. You may need to extend the hand truck nose plate or get one with a longer nose plate.

A:  Yes I purchased mine for that purpose. I'm not a contractor but an experienced woodworker. My son and I just got finished redoing his kitchen which included removing a wall and reframing another. It worked great. And I must say it's extremely quiet.

A:  Yes, I've done shear wall with it but in short bursts. It keeps up but would recommend a larger size tank. The recovery rate is excellent.

                        by|May 5, 2023

A:  Yes. Definitely 1 probably can have 2 going simultaneously. I have used it for that purpose with zero issues.

                          by|May 5, 2023

A:  It can run a framing nailer but if you work for a home builder get a larger unit. The compressor will be running all the time to keep up with heavy usage.

A:  Pretty quite compared to the one I use to have. I noticed right away how much quieter it was.

                              by|May 4, 2023

A:  I can understand your skepticism. 80 db isn't quiet, but realize it is whisper quiet when compared to 110-120 db for most other compressors. You can easily talk over this thing even when you are right next to it. Obviously, it can be heard, but it isn't nearly as noisy as the vast majority of air compressors and it won't hurt your ears. I highly recommend it. Not sure where you are going to hear it in action unless you know someone with one. Maybe home depot or lowes has one that can be rented.

                                by|May 4, 2023

A:  I agree that 80 db is not quiet, I have owned about 6 other portable compressors and this is by far the quietest. You can most likely find a review on you tube where you may be able to hear the noise level.

A:  It's heavy for its size but the handle is comfortable. If you want fast recovery and a quiet compressor this is a good one combined with a 50ft hose. Good for trim work and phenumatic tools using low to medium volumes of air or work requiring short burst of use of tools. I wouldn't nail shear wall with it even though at a slow pace it kept up.

A:  It's heavy, but that's the trade off for quality.

A:  I would not recommend ever laying the compressor on its side, you wouldn't store a refrigerator on its side. Compressors don't like oil running into the head.

A:  Not recommended! The compressor oil will seep past the piston rings and could foul up the valves for air control, like the over pressure release valve.
