          So we’ll made so useful
I was wise enough to stay away from the so-called oilless designs. I bought this because it uses real oil lubricate a very well-made cylinder and it is powered by a very well-made electric motor.. I bought it to run a small paint sprayer but it is so quiet and so useful that I use it every day: I keep it in my living room by my couch because it is so quiet and so useful every day. I sprayed my glasses down with Windex rinse them off with water and blow the pocket lint out of my 9mm magazine.

Poor quality control. Leaky exhaust valve
            1. Less than 2 years old at time of failure 2. Suddenly Ran continuously while smelling burning hot and not building full pressure. 3. Took head assembly off and noted misaligned exhaust reed valve causing continuous leak , poor pressure build up and self heating. Clearly a QA issue. 4. Replaced with new valve assembly that has similar offset but not as bad. 5. Had bought hitachi compressor before I got time to debug and repair mac700.

Just did the break in and did some air nailing with it. Very nicely made and easy to operate. I do recommend that you have some sort of cart to move it long distances. No problem lifting it on and off a cart but (at least for me) it's a bit hefty to walk with. I'm very happy with the noise level when it's operating and the pressure controls and meters are excellent.

Ordered this compressor online from HD, it arrived 1 week later, no damage. After break-in the compressor had an air leak, the pressure switch would cycle on after 15 minutes of no use. Sprayed soapy water but no leak could be found or heard. I can live with this . The compressor stays in my garage, never left out in the weather. After the warranty expired the compressor would not build over 60 psi, it just stayed running. So I took the compressor head off to find both the inlet and exhaust plates bad. This is where it gets interesting, The owners manual shows the unit assembly and part numbers so I ordered the parts for the compressor rebuild. Everything except the inlet seat is correct. I sent back the wrong seat 3 times then called a Mikita Authorized Service Center. They could not figure out why I kept getting the wrong part. I took the inlet seat to work and re-built the reed and seat myself. I also found my air leak, the tank check valve was not sealing correctly. I took this to work and machined the brass seat correctly. Reassembled the compressor and now it fills faster then new. It also holds air for four days before the pressure switch kicks on. Now I have the compressor I wanted when I bought it.

I bought this with high expectations to power a floor nailer, and it didn't let me down. Not once did I have to put work on hold so that the tank could fill. It is solid, well-built, and super quiet. One can easily talk over it even if it is right next to the conversation. The tank fills up quickly. It will go from completely empty to full in about 1 minute 45 seconds and will fill a partial tank in 30 seconds. It is a bit heavy and top-heavy at that. So, if you plan on hauling this around it needs to be tied down. Makita (usually) makes fantastic tools and this is no exception. Very happy with this purchase.

                MAC 700 Compressor Review
I purchased this ship to store, delivered on time to Home Depot. I got it on sale for $175. This is a solidly built unit, weighing around 50 pounds. Another reviewer had posted excellent set up and break-in instructions which are better than the ones included. There are several helpful online videos as well. Remove temporary white oil filler cap. Fill the oil only to the red dot on the clear oil level indicator. Install black filler cap. Do not over tighten and do not use thread tape. Install the silver air filter, using thread tape. Open the air valve at the bottom of the tank all the way, run for 20 minutes and you are done! I changed out the oil as it was a bit dirty afterwards. The unit comes up to pressure quickly via the big bore 2 HP motor, and is much quieter than non-oiled compressors. It takes about a minute to get to 130 PSI. I use it mostly for filling the tires on my boat trailer, as an air blower and it works great. I always empty the tank when done. It has a 2.6 gallon tank, so it’s not really suited for high volume air tools, but it is perfect for someone that needs a quality unit that does not take up much space. It fits on the bottom shelf under my work bench. A 50 foot air hose reaches everything. Over all, this is a great unit. My only minor issue was when I went to go pick it up, the clerk brought it out with the box upside down. This caused some left over oil from factory testing to leak past the temporary oil filler plug and it got under the motor cover. Otherwise the unit came in perfect condition.

SO quiet, and full of power for almost any construction job.
This little guy has a TON of power, and purrs with a nice easy rumble. I have owned at least 5 of the popular pancake compressors over the years, and aside from literally scaring my customers, I was tired of putting them in the closet because the sound was deafening and causing me unneeded stress. A quiet compressor was what I wanted most, and this Makita does not disappoint. It can run my hardwood nailer and 2 pinners at the same time (with a splitter not included) all day long every day. Max psi seems to be about 120, so the only thing it does not do well is a roofing nailer. Other tradesmen will stop and comment on how quiet it is, and you can even have a conversation over it. My only complaint is that it's a bit on the heavy side, and the feet leave black marks on the floor underneath. Just be sure to put something under it. Not a deal breaker. This is still the best compressor I've owned, and I'd buy it again. I put a water filter on mine and be sure to change the oil when needed (once every 9 months or so).
