You most definitely did not nail it. this was the worst customer experience I ever had, this may be the last time I shop at home depot. It all started when I tried to purchase a skilsaw table saw online for curbside pickup. The saw was not available to purchase online, so I called up my Phoenix home depot. I explained the situation and asked them to check for the availability of the table saw I wanted. There was one saw left in the store. From there I explained the situation and asked if I can place the order over the phone and use curbside pickup to avoid going in the store due to covid. The representative was very helpful and proceeded to attempt the order, but for some reason the transaction was getting declined. I was advised to call the bank to see if they were blocking the transaction and call back. I called the bank and they stated they were not blocking the transaction and there was not any attempt and the card. They said more than likely the string of numbers was being entered incorrectly. From here I called home depot back and the next representative was unwilling to help me place the order over the phone. I explain the situation and told her the previous representative was trying to help me place the order. The home depot representative insisted this was not possible nor an option and said I will need to make the purchase in store. Due to the back and forth and not getting any help I just let it go and asked if they could hold the saw for me since it is the last one. the representative agreed to hold the saw and asked for my information to put on the saw. I was told to just come into home depot and it would be waiting at customer service. I go to home depot later on in the day and explain I am both here to pick up an online order and to place an order for a table saw that is on hold for me. Off the bat Sydney or Cindy (home depot representative) was very cold and said sternly they do not hold items that have not been purchased. I explained the situation and told her the representative over the phone asked for my information to hold the item for me. Sydney asked for the name of the representatives I talked to on the phone and I did not have the names. After 3 to 5 minutes and asking me 3 more times if I knew the names of the representatives which I clearly said I did not know the names, she finally proceeded to see if there was a table saw on hold for me. There was not a table saw. At this point I am just frustrated with her behavior and the circles I have been jumping through to buy this saw so I just pick up my separate online order from her and go look to see if the table saw is in the aisle. looks like the saw is in the aisle and was not put on hold for me even though I was told it would be on hold. luckily, no one bout the last one and I loaded it into my cart. I proceeded to checkout and tried to pay using Samsung pay as I have done in the past. for some reason the order was not going through. The cashier said the store recently upgraded their pos systems and no do not support Samsung pay anymore. I asked if there was a way to manually place the order and she said yes but I will need to go back to the customer service desk to do so. I went back to the customer service desk hoping I would not have to work with Sydney again as she was very cold to me previously. I ended up getting her again. She asked what she could help with. I explained I was sent over here because I could not pay at the checkout since Samsung pay is no longer accepted. She said I needed to go place my order with the cashier. I again explained I tried and they sent me to customer service (should be called customer disappointment counter). She then proceeded to say she cannot manually place the order and I should order online for curbside pickup. I reexplained that was initially what I wanted to do and attempted to do but the product was not available to check out online. I told her earlier they were trying to place the order over the phone for me but there was an issue. She said they should not have attempted to do that. she suggested I buy a gift card online. I had already tried that but for some reason it was rejected, even though the bank was showing the charge was pending. this was the email sent from home depot We're sorry. We were unable to process your eGift Card order from The Home Depot. Settled charges will be refunded to the original form of payment. Pending authorizations do not represent capture of funds and will expire according to the policies of the financial institution. If you have any questions or concerns, please email us at homedepotgiftcardsupport@cashstar.com or call 888-679-8365 from 8:00 to 8:00 PM EST, seven days a week. Thank you, The Home Depot eGift Card Team I explained to Sydney I already tried that and tried to show her the email from home depot and the transaction in my statement. She did not want to see it. From there I explained we have been able to place an order for me manually in the past at this location, also they tried to do it earlier for me on the phone, and everything else I have already tried and gone through. she did not display any empathy. I asked if there was a manager I could speak to. She called her manager Tony on the phone and rather than asking him to come down she had painted an incomplete picture lacking the details of my ordeal. over the phone Tony told her no and said I needed to be a pro member. I asked her to have him to please come and talk to me rather than play a game of phone. Tony came to the customer service counter where I was with Sydney and right away you could already see in his body language he did not want to deal with me and more than likely was not going to help. He had his arms crossed, eyebrows tightened down, and a stern look. He asked loudly "did someone here ask to speak to a manager?" My wife and I were the only customer's there. I reexplained the situation and all the hoops I had to go through alongside with the disappointment in not being able to use Samsung pay anymore. Tony quickly said sorry entering the card manually is not an option. I expressed the willingness earlier to attempt it and that it has been done at this location before. he said it may have been done before but he will not break protocol and lose his job for me. I then asked if I could have someone who is a pro member place the order over the phone if then we can process the transaction. He said not. At this point I was done since he did not want to try to help and just seemed like he was using his power complex card. I ended up going back to self-checkout and using my credit card that I did not want to use. This experience truly ruined home depot for me. I have been in management for many years and have dealt with escalated customers. I would never treat my customers with suck a lack of empathy and such an unwillingness attempt to help. Most of the time My escalated customers are happy/laughing/understanding at the end of our interaction even if I cannot do what they were asking. Tony and Sydney are in need of some serious customer relations training
